Sun Beam Portrait

I'm at work with an uncalibrated monitor so I'm afraid to say much for the lighting and color ( looks flat and yellow to me ).
Still, the pose looks strained and almost painful. Not exactly flattering.

If the subject were a bit more comfortable it might make for a decent portrait. I do like the light beams in the background. Are they naturally occurring?

Are they only on the background or are they also on the subject? It looks like a couple of overly bright spots on her head and face that might line up with the light, but again I don't trust this monitor.

A nice idea, good skin tones, but an awkward pose and weak colour.

The shoulders are really hunched forwards, which looks quite painful, and it's not that flattering to look down someone's ear...

But the idea is excellent, and with a re-arrangement could be fantastic. Why not try again?

Pete, this is your girlfriend right? from this and the other pics you've posted of her I get the feeling she is not really 100% comfortable during these photo sessions, maybe i'm right, maybe i'm wrong, not everyone is totally relaxed in front of a lens, or perhaps you need a bit more experience? I dunno what else to say really, I'm not a portrait/people person myself but even I can see something not quite right with the shot.

You either need another model or a few jugs of Sangria

Better still, how about you take all your clothes off and jump under that waterfall and let your girlfriend snap you

PS 10/10 for the effort though, I HATE taking portraits myself, too many years of "get on with it" "stop messing about" "have you taken it yet?"

anywho, I love the many efforts he posts....I suspect with every passing week he's improving, learning and SHOOTING more and better images.

I'm glad he's not in my neighbourhood, 'cause I'd hate to have to competet with him three years from now......

There was a lot I didn't like about this shot, most of which has been covered already. I liked the waterfall, but I think this is a step backwards.

I strongly suspect that the rays are a complete con, and folk probably know by now that such fakery is very much not to my personal taste.

But all that aside, I really don't like the frames. The title and website URL emblazoned across the bottom strike me as very pretentious. It looks like advertising, and on an "asking for critique" thread, I think it's just wrong.

filters:render:lighting effects.....in photoshop
mystic light plug-in
and various other techniques can achieve that effect.
I guess the telltail would be the flat light on an image that should be mottled with highlights and shadows.....
but really....
It's a lovely concept. A pretty girl.
better than those Big chain store portraits...

Your image is very good but just lacks that something I can't quite put my finger on. I think a different colour background would have looked better as she is quite pale and blonde so maybe a nice pastel colour would have worked better buts that's only my opinion. I think the image was shot a little to close and you have chopped off part of her hair. Maybe you intended to do this ??

I put the frame on my images just to add a bit of a proffesional look but I can take off the web address as my website is not that good anyway.
