Sigma EF-530 DG Super Flash Gun which is wireless - but I believe it only shoots wirelessly when the built in flash goes off.
This is true, and similarly so of all the wirelessly-triggered flash guns compatible with the K10D.

Thoughts on a flash purchase? I am relatively new to photography.. therefore any ideas greatly appreciated.
I got one of these recently for £181. They're out of stock at the moment, but since it seems to be identical apart from the badge to the Pentax AF540-FGZ, maybe worth waiting for.

I've been very happy with it so far (and at that price, it was a steal), including its wireless capabilities, although I haven't got totally familiar with it yet.

It would certainly be worth checking that it does still work with a flash on the hot shoe.

Even if you plan never to use the built-in flash, it would be a shame to discover - outside the warranty period - that the built-in flash head itself was fine, but that it was the firing circuitry that wasn't.

I don't know enough about them to know whether that's possible, but it would be pretty annoying.

Clarky, you need to download the Pentax Remote Assistant Software, then use the USB cable to connect camera and computer.
Even with Remote Assistant, you can't see what the camera sees without making an exposure.

You can see what it took, on the computer screen, and if you save it, it ends up on the computer, not the SD card in the camera.

But taking the pictures one at a time and saving them on the computer, doesn't seem to me to be any quicker than taking all the photos, and then uploading the whole lot.

Just kidding, folks. This really isn't another thread about 'is RAW better than JPEG'.

However, I am curious about one thing.

Shooting RAW+, if I take a PEF file, import it into CS3, export it unmodified to max quality JPG, I get a JPG file that's much bigger (about twice as big) than the corresponding JPG straight out of the camera.

Any idea why?

That's grass, George
Indeed, but I was referring to more than the gramineal chromaticism.
So what is your best ever Scrabble score? Gramineal is another cracker. My dictionary (COED) had graminaceous, but not that. Chromaticism is not even in the same league.

Apart from the grass, what looks too green/yellow to you?

I would rate the 50mm/1.4 as one of all time favourite lenses.
Is the A any different optically from the FA?

Chris @ SRS has sold a number of the SDM lenses recently.

If he's in a position to quote the numbers, it would be interesting to know how many, and whether there have been QC issues from any of his customers.

Even without the numbers, it would be helpful to hear from possibly the only person here who's been in contact, even indirectly, with a significant number of the lenses.
