OPTIO 50 & LAPTOP

Hi ALL,
I'm new to this & its cold over here in Finland. !!
Help please:
I would like to be able to 'run' my Optio 50 and at the same time see the pictures on my ACER3502 laptop.
I need to focus on small diecast vehicles and at the same time see and record them on the laptop. There are over 300 items and if I just photograph them and then transfer them to the laptop it'll take days..
I'M SURE THERE'S A WAY ??

Your confidence is probably misplaced. You can do this with a Pentax *ist D or K10D, but not with (m)any other bodies.

Trying to do macro photography with a p&s camera is always going to be a challenge. My advice is to try and shoot in very bright light, so that the camera uses a small aperture and you will therefore get a large DOF (depth of field - more of the picture will be in focus).

How do you do it with the K10 : Do you use the TV cable that comes with the camera :

Clarky, you need to download the Pentax Remote Assistant Software, then use the USB cable to connect camera and computer.

Even with Remote Assistant, you can't see what the camera sees without making an exposure.

You can see what it took, on the computer screen, and if you save it, it ends up on the computer, not the SD card in the camera.

But taking the pictures one at a time and saving them on the computer, doesn't seem to me to be any quicker than taking all the photos, and then uploading the whole lot.

I think the point is to see whether the picture is in focus, and redo it immediately if not, while the subject is in place.

Big advantage is that you see it the size of the computer screen rather than the screen on the back of the camera.

Thanx folks, just to clear-up the why. Tis true that I don't want the extra 'work' of shuffling back and forward between PC, Card & camera.
With the camera hooked up to the PC I see the actual (size etc.) picture that the 3rd person will see on the internet...
We got snow yesterday... yerk!
