but much better and consistent results are obtained simply from using a RocketBlower or similar item to blow the dust free. (almost a year and have not had to use wet or other method to physically touch the sensor area... air alone has been enough)
Ditto. Rocket blower for me.

Hi,Yes that is correct but before I tried to install it I rang Pentax UK tech support and was told the 100d and 100dsuper use the same firmware.
I doubt that is correct though
Having rendered a PC motherboard unusable once, some years ago, as a result of being slightly too impatient, and failing to notice a one digit difference in the name of a firmware file, there's no way I would trust the word of some random tech at the end of a phone.

I think you may yet be very glad the camera didn't pick up the new file.

Enjoy your camera.

I have tried everything even a new card.I am beginning to wonder if this firmware is suitable for the super model even though Pentax techs say it is.
Is the firmware you downloaded v1.02 for the K100D?

If so, I'd be very reluctant to install it on what is, no matter what the similarities, a different camera.

I get my K10D firmware downloads from www.pentaximaging.com, and the 100D Super is not yet listed there.

Definitely think the sky adds to the image. It is way too claustrophobic without it.
Agreed.

Did you do on the monorail when in Sidney or just shoot it?
Didn't ride the monorail in Sydney. We were on the way to the Aquarium, and there it was. Had to wait for a bit for it to get to a good position, but it was worth the "How much longer are you going to be?" that I got quite a lot during the holiday...

Actually, that monorail is just fantastic. You don't get to see just how good it is, until you can see it from above (we did the obligatory Sydney Tower visit), and then you realise that it just goes where the roads go, without disturbing the buildings, and without being visually all that intrusive. A brilliant bit of inner-city public transport.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

It's a very interesting graphic design, only spoilt IMO by the disconnected area bottom left. A tighter crop off the bottom of the image will cure that.
Yes, I wondered about that too. Here's the version without the bottom:

And then I wondered if that made it unbalanced at the top. So I removed the fragment of sky, and it ended up like this:

... which was too abstract, and weaker in terms of the main theme, which is all the sets of parallel lines.

So I thought I'd stop, and see what people thought.

Ok, here's one very unlike my usual style. Just a toe in the water, really - wondering whether to try more of this sort of thing.

What do you think? No gentleness or other wussy punch-pulling required.

Close to the buildings there is the "old stream" (Alter Strom) which is a bit quieter water. The major part of the water is the main shipping channel, the mouth of the Warnow river ("Mündung" in German means mouth; Warnemünde means Warn(ow)mouth). In that part there was a bit more wave action and therefore it looks different. I think thatäs what you are seeing.
Of course. Perfectly clear now, as it indeed would have been if I'd looked more carefully...

Thanks

They're all very striking.

What's happening with the water level in the second one? It's cutting the lights, so it looks like it's flooding, although I'm sure it isn't.

Another one from yesterday. Facing north, with Didcot power station in the late afternoon sun. Very little cloud about, except for the one right above the power station, due to all the hot air from the cooling towers punching upwards.

The much clearer blue above is real - it's due to a temperature inversion in the atmosphere, common on high pressure days like yesterday. They have the effect of keeping all the pollution at low level, hence the much hazier air below it.

When in Elements 5 or CS2, does anyone know if it is possible to copy and paste the metadata info displayed by an image, rather than having to copy it out manually?
In Elements 5, and indeed in CS3 (so I presume in CS2 also), you can go to:

File | File Info | Advanced,

.. and then save the EXIF as a .xmp file, which much resembles XML. It will open in Firefox, and it displays in a moderately readable format.

Not sure this is ideal - are there XMP readers out there?
