90 quid . Your govt sure has you guys on a tight leash
Well IIRC the duty is 7%, the VAT is 17.5%, and they both get charged on the postage as well, I think George said.

So 280 + 17 (shipping was that approx I think) = 297 gives:

297 x 1.07 x 1.175 = 373.

Here's one advertised from the US but shipped from Japan which is going for around £280 + postage.
That's pretty good, although once you add on the shipping, duty and VAT I reckon it'll be about £370. If it was a choice between that and SRS, it would be SRS for all the usual reasons.

However, I managed to snap up an FA 80-320 last night, sadly for somewhat more than one that went a few weeks back for £67.

So that puts any plans for the 18-250 back until I've done some serious selling (probably of body parts).

Maybe UK based but the feedback talks about items being sent from abroad as the seller was on business trip etc.
I hadn't noticed that. They wouldn't be my first choice supplier if I was going to buy this lens, but hopefully it's an indication of price point.

It would be a bit disappointing, given the similarity of the Pentax to the Tamron, if it really was £100 more (looking at the prices on the SRS website, the Tamron is £299, and the Pentax is expected to be £399).

I was doing an eBay trawl, came across this:

If you look at their shop, they claim to be a UK-based importer.

For achieve my challenge, yesterday I did 49 shots in flight
49?

Two or three, and it's an extremely good and careful look round first, in the south of England.

Ah, for such light traffic as the Argentine skies.

My word... you must have lightning reactions, to be able to time the shot to catch the prop horizontal

Can you give an example?
Well I'd rather not, since I didn't want to single anyone out, nor make a big issue out of a small one. And in any case I'm just one voice, and I entirely understand that others may have different views.

I'm sure anyone that's interested can cast an eye over some of the previous comps and see a few examples of the sort of thing I'm getting at.

Part of the competition, though, as I see it, is in communicating the way the picture corresponds with the theme through the image alone, rather than with text as well.

I would like to make a request/suggestion for the next and subsequent competitions, if I may. Naturally I respect any decision from the moderators on this.

That is, that when people post their entry, the most in the way of accompanying text is a simple statement of what it is a picture of, not something that adds anything in the way of "atmosphere", or "context" to the picture.

I'm not for a moment suggesting that any of the judges would intentionally include the impression formed from the text in their judging, but I do feel the pictures should stand on their own merits without the need for accompanying context-setting text.
