A bit outside my comfort zone...

Ok, here's one very unlike my usual style. Just a toe in the water, really - wondering whether to try more of this sort of thing.

What do you think? No gentleness or other wussy punch-pulling required.

It's a very interesting graphic design, only spoilt IMO by the disconnected area bottom left. A tighter crop off the bottom of the image will cure that.

Yes, I wondered about that too. Here's the version without the bottom:

And then I wondered if that made it unbalanced at the top. So I removed the fragment of sky, and it ended up like this:

... which was too abstract, and weaker in terms of the main theme, which is all the sets of parallel lines.

So I thought I'd stop, and see what people thought.

Fine picture. The first version is the best (IMHO). The proportions are better, which I think compensates for the distractions.

No, the sky's ok, getting rid of the 'green' bit at the bottom was good.

Nice 'city-scape'

On second thoughts, if you could have got a woman in a red dress on that center balcony . . . . . . . . . .

Hi Chris,

As I can see, you have a very good eye!

IMHO the first image is more imbibed with the world.

I don’t find distracting the upper and the lower left sides. I think helps situate the main image with the other environment.

Best regards.

Definitely think the sky adds to the image. It is way too claustrophobic without it.

Did you do on the monorail when in Sidney or just shoot it?

Sidney was very pleasant but busy when I was there.

Agreed.

Didn't ride the monorail in Sydney. We were on the way to the Aquarium, and there it was. Had to wait for a bit for it to get to a good position, but it was worth the "How much longer are you going to be?" that I got quite a lot during the holiday...

Actually, that monorail is just fantastic. You don't get to see just how good it is, until you can see it from above (we did the obligatory Sydney Tower visit), and then you realise that it just goes where the roads go, without disturbing the buildings, and without being visually all that intrusive. A brilliant bit of inner-city public transport.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
