I wouldn't expect great things from a converter on the Bigma (The common name for the Sigma 50-500mm). I've tried a variety of them and they're useful if you cannot get a shot any other way. One of the biggest problems is the light when extended to 500mm and the ability of the camera to auto-focus accurately. However, it's a cracking lens in its own right.

Oh, and I do happen to have one for sale on this very forum

They haven't made it available in the UK for some reason. I got it in Pentax mount from B&H. It's a wonderful lens, even wide-open:

I found out belatedly that it's a grey import and without proof of import duties, Sigma weren't willing to clean it under warranty. They indicated it would only be around £30. Each of the large Sigma zooms I've had have had dust inside the lens, which doesn't appear to be uncommon with their designs. That said, it hasn't affected any of my images taken with it.

The lens is now on Ebay, though, and since it's received an initial bid I can't withdraw it now:

Last chance as the lenses are going onto eBay in the next day or so (a Sigma 400mm the same as mine went for £161 a few days ago in pentax mount).
