K-7 Returned with faulty sensor

I had to return my K-7 today with a faulty sensor It's the same as has been reported here. Shot a five minute video and then subsequent photo's shot immediately afterwards have the solid green stripe down the frame. It's most easily seen if you heavily underexpose a shot of a dark surface. The effect did disappear after a few shots. I was able to recreate the problem.

Here's a resized image showing the issue I see:

I do hope it's not a design issue and is simply a bad batch of sensors and that the replacement will be OK. I'd suggest anyone with a K-7 check theirs to ensure that it doesn't exhibit the same flaw.

That's very disappointing for you, so I hope you get your replacement soon.

There's nothing at all showing up as a green stripe on my monitor though - where is it? Is my monitor too dark to see it?
Best regards, John

Not very good have you taken it back to the shop and changed it or sent it for a repair?

John, you might have to turn up your contrast/brightness. It runs down the centre of the image from top to the bottom and is only ~1 pixel wide.

Tel, I've just sent it back to SRS for a replacement body.

Yes your screen must be, go from the left move to the mid way point then just on the right side of that point.

BTW, I do know that the photo I posted is under-exposed, that is intentional to more easily demonstrate the problem. It can be seen more faintly in properly exposed images as well and is quite visible with macro shots at 100% which is a pain for me as I often heavily crop.

I put it into Photoshop and with the brightness increased substantially it becomes visible at 100% and above. But it is definitely there and, as you say Chirpy, it's about 1 pixel wide.

Sorry to say this or your eyes are getting a bit old, green colours are the ones to go first.
Even with my eyes I know that both aren't the same, the green with the right one is mostly greener while the left one is a bit more brown

I can see the line clearly too does it stay there if you turn on and of the camera or even reset it and does it do it all the time after video?

It stayed in the same place. It seems related to the temperature of the sensor. I tested with a short video and it was fine. With a longer video is showed this problem. It does go away after a short while, presumably after the sensor has cooled down a little. I didn't try a simple off/on again. Part of the problem was that it wasn't immediately apparent on the LCD only after downloading and viewing the images. I can't do any further tests as it's now in the post

A recalibrated monitor may help, just done mine with my Spyder2

This reminds me of a problem I had a couple of years ago with my K10D. I was getting lines across the image.

Eventually it was traced to my computer - presumably the graphics card. Somehow, when saving the picture to the computer, lines were being added. A new computer solved the problem.

So what I was certain was a camera problem, turned out not to be.

George, I remember that happening. My main doubt with that is that the problem is reproducible only under certain strict conditions rather than a general intermittent or continuous problem under varying circumstances. Prior to playing with video I have shot several hundred images, none of which show this.
