Lovely and crisp - I'm a poppy fan wherever they're growing.

It's great to see the diversity of use people on this forum put their Pentax cameras to, just from the sites so far on flickr

Excellent macro shots and nice and sharp. I really like the 2nd shot of the hoverfly's backside - that's definitely an unusual angle It looks like it's got little aeroplane wing flaps on the top of its wings

The first one is well taken, but a bit too much brightening for me. If it's a crop I'd also move the crop more to the right so that the hoverfly is looking into a bit more space compared to what's behind it.

Hi Terry,

Luck, patience and twisting around at strange and interesting angles. I hate to wonder what the neighbours think I'm doing

The pictures were taken at f/16 which does help with the DOF, but it's still very thin.

Here's another example at the same f-stop which just put the fly's abdomen OOF because of the slight angle of the body to the camera:

2nd one is definitely a hoverfly - they're great bee mimics It's probably a Drone-fly, so called because they look like honey bee drones.

3rd one is my favourite, it's a different and fun composition.

Lovely. I find moorhens almost as silly as coots
