Are you sure it's an iris? I have other Iris's and they don't seem to grow in the water.....they look a little different..... maybe different subspecies of iris?

I believe it's a Siberain Iris - smaller and less frilly than a Bearded Iris.

It's definitely one of the Iris family of plants. It has the characteristic triangular petal arrangement. I can't identify exactly which one though. In UK they are often found growing in still water; ponds & river margins, etc.

We also have yellow, blue, and white 'Flags', which grow in normal garden soil.
