As it appears to be, Steve and I live nearby and in fact are at the same places during working hours so he's very kindly let me borrow his MZ5 to have a play with! I guess I'll have a play with that, as all I need is a simple AF P&S that'll work as a backup!
Thanks a lot for the advice guys =D
Next week will be time to get a cheap roll of film and see what I get =D

I'm completely new to film photography, as I have only worked with digital, and in a few months time I'll probably be backpacking and would like to get an extra camera and think it would be a film one so I can stick my 43mm ltd on it and use it as a point and shoot at times.
Are there any good recommendations as I don't know anything about the film bodies. I don't think I'll bother using MF when I'm going light and fast so preferably AF, and the smaller the body the better it is.
Also if I'm just taking pictures of general city/culture life, what kind of film would be easy to source and has a good quality? or shall I just pick a few rolls up from Boots

Thank you!

As title says really, not overly bothered about cosmetic conditions but best to be in good condition.
Of course the glass has to be clear, free of fungus, dust, scratches and comes with caps.

I've recently acquired a 18-250mm and brought it to Greece for a few days as my only lens.
Let alone the quality of my pictures which are mainly my fault, the lens is a very good all in one lens especially when you can't be bothered to change lenses for different focal lengths.
There will be slight compromise in IQ compared to other ones with shorter lengths like the 16-45 or a 28-70 f2.8 but you gain a lot of convenience with it.
I wouldn't complain about it as it suits my needs more or less spot on.
It does creep under its own weight though as John has mentioned, which could be a slight annoyance when you forget to lock it,

many thanks indeed, I shall look into that.

Not wanting to start a new thread and clog up the forum and hope someone will see this, as now I've managed to gather some funds I'll be getting a 15mm or 21mm (pancake prime) fairly soon.
I'd be primarily using it for landscapes during climbing, but would also like to use it as a walkabout lens.
In a vast mountain environment sometimes I don't find having an extra mm helps a lot since everything is already so wide, but on occasions I have been proven wrong.
I could possibly get a good offer on either lens, so it'd be useful to hear more about them, best if someone who owns them both can talk about them.

Thanks for the info guys, I think the 43mm with the raynox should be sufficient for me then!
Only problem is to try to fit it to the lens, which has a 49mm filter thread =S

sounds like selling the sigma for the 15mm and keeping the 43mm would be the most suggested then!
I just had an analyse of my pictures taken with DSLRs, and suddenly realised I've been talking rubbish, I do end up at around 40mm quite often but just never realise it!
unfortunately the macro will have to wait then...
what's a raynox by the wyay??

The main attraction for the 35mm would be the 1:1 macro (especially little bugs/flora i see when I'm climbing) and when I'm out and about I'd be using AF mostly. I wasn't dissapointed by the colours etc of the 43mm, but I just don't really use that focal length, it's sort of right in the middle of what I don't tend to shoot.
the 15mm isn't as much of a priority, and I was thinking I should be able to get a little bit of money back if I swap the 43mm for the 35mm, and then save it up and slowly work my way towards a 15mm.
Or any other recommendations that are fairly small and light that might fit my bill?
