selling a SMC-M 28mm f3.5, PK fit as it's an M so manual aperture etc.
Probably a lens that wouldn't need selling for its IQ and performance.
The lens itself is in very good condition, clean blades, optics are dust and fungus and scratch free, probably a very tiny bit of wear near the filter thread (most likely due to filter use).
Comes with a Pentax front cap (old one, might be original), and a generic back cap. Will also leave the 49mm Skylight filter on it as a package but that one has been used and quite scratched around the rims, the glass is fine itself though.

Selling the FA 43mm Ltd to make way for a 31mm.
Simple reasons, I need something wider and I've got something that can cover the length of the 43mm, and I want to keep a ltd
It's a silver one, comes with the original box, brown leather pouch, hood, caps. Made in Japan.
All optics are clear and free from dust/fungus. Iris blades are clean too. Basically in tip top condition, I've obviously used it, but always took very good care of it.

Asking for £480 or near offers plus RMSD postage in the UK (probably around £8 ), very quick sale needed.
First refusal is going to Giofi as he got in touch with me literally 2 days ago about it, but please get in touch if you're interested.

I was well shocked when I applied this.
Subsequently tried it to a few more shots, not as impressive as this, parts of the picture got cut off after defishing, as it does in PT lens as well.
Also it does make the corners, or actually the parts outside the "fisheye's circle" look pretty bad as the IQ is really only good at the centres and the corners are poor-ish as usual.
All in all it did a better job than I expected.

I've just tried to improvise something out out of cord and tape for climbing, they are definitely strong enough to hold things and won't break, as I know by trusting my life on them before. Looks bad but cheap and does the job if you don't want to spend lots of money!

The tape felt quite comfy on the shoulders too! For heavy lenses maybe some cheap neoprene will do the job as padding.
One advantage is that it hasn't got metal parts to clip on and off so no worries about failing, just replace the fabric when you think it's too old or worn!

I've just updated my lightroom to version 3.4, and have realised that there are now a load of lens profiles for Pentax lenses!
Instantly pulled out one from the recent ventures with the fisheye and tried it, and it seems to be pretty good! (I've only clicked the lens profile, nothing else done to the picture.)
Has anyone else had a play with it??

My first time trying macro on a live organism that might move voluntarily. These are all shot hand held and I was standing on a spinning chair so I'm aware about safety as well when I shot it, as the creature was also half way up the wall!!
I tried to focus on its eyes but can't seem to do it, I've tried lighting it up with the table lamps near me (strong led bulbs)
It's shot with the K5 and a Vivitar 55mm f2.8 macro.
Either way, C&C welcome!

The only problem with the FA43 is that it is not wider. The only problem with the FA31 is that it is not smaller. And cheaper. And wider.

There is no problem with the FA77.
The problem is everything seems to have a problem!

Anyway, directly comparing 43 against 31?
- 43 is smaller and lighter, but 31 is still not big
- 43 is sharper in the centre at any f stop
- 31 is sharper in the corners up to f2.8 or so, from there they are just about the same
- 31 has quite a bit more of "pixie dust" I don't know what it is but the way that lens renders is absolutely beutiful. Having said that, 43 has it's charms.
- 31 has nicer OOF IMO
- 31 focuses tad faster but might miss more often (at least when comparing my copy)
- both have hugely inadequate hoods but 31 more so.
- I prefer colours of 31
Not as rich, I got the 55mm Komine, but it's got macro so I'm not complaining
I had a browse for pictures taken by the 31mm and compared them to mine and came to more or less the same conclusion. I've now got a thread in the classfields, but to be fair it's probably a massively long shot! Fingers crossed...

Decided to swap the 43mm for a 31mm, it's got the original box and leather pouch, and it's silver, with all caps/hood. It's always been looked after and is in great condition.
Will post a few pics in a bit.
