I thought no one was going to bother so didn't update the thread!
I'm sorry Paul but I've had a thought about it, if the lens isn't sold I'll hang on to the mount, if not I'll just have a lens here that I can't use.
Sorry to disappoint you here.
Thanks

Thanks Bertie, very detailed and scientific test indeed, though I really haven't got the effort at the moment to read into it, the summary did well for me though!

Stefan, Thanks for the heads up again, a quick search does indeed bring up two camps.

I'm a bit of both, as with a big hood I really wouldn't worry about it but with the 31mm I think I might cover it up this time with a filter though as I'll most likely encounter quite a fair amount of dust and possibly water.

Thank you!

Ok, having acquired the 31mm I've thought about getting a filter for it. only a UV, but I'm wondering, will a cheap one have much of a difference between a more expensive one? e.g. is it worth the extra to get a Hoya HD, instead of the standard Hoya UV filters? (3 times difference in price?!)

I've never really used filters, so apologies for another silly question, though it's probably not just for the 31mm, it'll obviously apply to all lenses.

just checked the EXIF it was at 10mm! I was very surprised by that one, other shots did have bits cropped away when I tried it.

I've got a battery from them it's so far stood up well but it's not old at all so I don't know about the long term use. Life is similar to the original but again, I never really have the camera on for long enough that I manage to exhaust either battery at a single go. I'd say it'll last a couple hundred shots without flash at least. Not sure with lifeview or video taking.

My only ultra wide is the 10-17mm fisheye. I think the IQ drops off quite badly as it goes towards the corner, and this is more significant when the fisheye distortion is stronger.
I've been experimenting with it trying to point it slightly heading down or up when shooting, as the distortion follows a bit of the natural curvature of the earth and lining the horizon at different angles seems to have different effects.

For it being defished, I've posted an example here using a LR 3.4 lens profile (pre set by adobe )

This is the most impressive one I've seen/done, others aren't as good towards the corners but still just about acceptable considering how distorted it was before editing.

Or, swap the lens for an adaptall 90mm macro?
