With manufacturing tolerances there is always the probability of having a camera at one end of the scale and a lens at the other. Although an extreme situation it`s possible. I wonder how many buy a new camera/lens and are seemingly disapointed with their first results.

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to write a simple, straightforward plan for AF checking and post it to the forum.

I am of the firm belief that sat navs have a very limited lifespan. The one I have at the moment is a Go live 1000 which was a warranty replacement for the same which threw off the coil of life at 11 months. Once I received the new one it was a nightmare to update. It had all my info and login details as the one it replaced but it wouldn`t let me update the map which I had paid for. I like using it more for redirection when the wheels fall off a journey and it`s well useful having it as a speed indicator on the windscreen rather than looking down at the speedometer. If only I could update the wretched thing.

Pointless!!! Trying to update a Tomtom Go 1000,Grrr! All I do is go round in circles. Uploaded and followed the instructions to the letter. Their system is more pointless than pointless. What have I ever done to a Cloggie to deserve this?

My K5 and DA*300 have had many a soaking with rain with no adverse effects. However like John I always wipe off the excess from time to time. I try to guard against salt water `cos that will corrode and damage bright shiny bits. Always dry well afterwards and I always leave unpacked in a warm room.

Glad to help Ralph, seeing is beleiving. It`s that old saying about pictures and words. I think for the money the X5 is great value.

Hi Ralph

I always have an X5 with me at work, not a problem with image quality even with some digital zoom although @ 26 times magnification is huge. Colour is fine. A Dslr it isn`t but it`s a great light little fella with good battery life. I will upload some pics shortly. Straight out of the camera. It`s not fair to compare with a DSLR so I won`t. Different horses etc.

HG, could always send a mileage bill in to the hospital trust, 50p a mile wouldn`t be out of the way. Our East of England Ambulance Service had to bring an ambulance from Southampton to do a pick up and delivery in Cambridge so cost to them can`t be an issue.

The K30 shutter noise is much the same as the K10 and K20. On the other hand the shutter on the K5 is whisper quiet in comparison as is the sensor cleaning. I thought it a shame when Pentax had already perfected a quiet system but then again I suppose it does have something to do with build cost.
