I don't know about the I-Phone but with my Android Phones in order to connect with Image Sync on both my K70 and K1ii I had to do the following

Turn on the WIFI in the Camera
Shut Off the WIFI in the Phone
Turn the phone WIFI back on and select the WIFI PENTAX_****** (Note) You will have to hold the phone very close to the camera in order the camera's WIFI signal to override any other WIFI signals in the area
If it is the first time connecting you will have to enter the access code displayed on the rear screen
Start the Image Sync app and you should see the camera on the app

Hope this helps your connection issues through WIFI

Great thread and discussion which definitely highlighted some of my own shortcomings when it comes using the built in flash to correct for mother natures or other artificially created shadows.
One particular piece of kit I find sometimes handy to modify the performance of the built in flash is a hot shoe mounted light diffuser called the Puffer supplied by Gary Fong. The diffuser is light weight and pliable so it can easily be carried in a coat or back pack pocket
I find it works well in situations where it may be desirable to soften the light from the internal flash to prevent burn out, for example when using the internal flash as a trigger for off camera flashes

I agree I was a little surprised when the K70 didn't have wireless flash control other than as an Optical Slave. I guess they had to sacrifice the flash RF transceiver chip on the motherboard for the Wi-Fi Transceiver chip like they sacrificed the popup flash for GPS on the K3II and K1.

I guess for the amount of time I use the flash "Off Camera" I can get away with using it as an Optical Slave. If however I want the option back and regain P-TTL I will have to bite the bullet and invest in either a new AF-360 or 540FGZ II or a third party flash that my current AF-360FGZ can be slaved to and remain fully functional.

Do you know of any 3rd party flash that will fill that role or would I be better off moving to a trigger like the Cactus V6 or V6II.
My reason for asking is that many Canadian Retailers no longer carry Pentax branded products and it may be easier to acquire a third party flash with a little less risk and more local support

In my Supplement document to my "Pentax Flash Guide" there is a table listing every camera back as far as the K100/d with the on board flash features provided.
It's odd you mention that the K100D had the wireless flash control option because my K100D (purchased in 2007) with up to date firmware didn't have or gain that option. Maybe the option was on the upgraded K100D Super which was released just prior to or around the the same time as the Flash . I can also cause the flash to fire with K100D internal falsh using the same setup as I use for the K70. I know my K-r did have wireless flash control as I used it regularly with my AF-360FGZ.

I'm aware that this thread is a bit old, but for those who use or updated to the K-70. It is the only way to get the AF-360FGZ & AF-540FGZ along with possibly the version II of these flashes to work wirelessly. This is necessary after Pentax dropped the internal camera wireless control option for these flashes with the on-board flash as the Master as was available from the K-R to KS-2

I did find that the flash when setup in this mode will fire on both Slave Channels and the zoom can be Manually adjusted. I also found that the my AF-360FGZ defaulted to an ISO setting of 100 and I haven't figured out or if it is possible to match the ISO setting to the camera.

I have used the GPS unit on the K70 for some daylight shots but haven't used the astrotracer yet.
On the K70 one of the 3 User Dial setting came pre-programmed for Astrotracing with the GPS unit directly from the factory which is nice. I did however change the program to save the files in Raw over the default Jpg. The internal navigation option has been dropped but the compass remains.
The night vision option on the adjustable LCD screen is helpful when it comes to not affecting you night vision when setting and aiming the camera.
I also checked the GPS Exif Data on a couple of the shots that I used the GPS on and the GPS Heading Angle References and I assume the Compass is relative to True North not Magnetic North. This may be unique to the K70 but it could be, from what I've been told, something to do with the fact the Magnetic North is constantly moving and over the last couple of years the movement is quite erratic

Mount it on a telescope tripod with a star tracking system it could make a decent lens for astro-photography

Try going to the American or Canadian Ricoh websites and you should be able to download the Silkipix Digital Camera Utility 5 & it's update for the K3II on the following link
