Very nice shots. Which lens(es) did you use?
Thanks for the comments so far.

The lens I used for the cars was the Sigma 100-300 F4 which I'm so glad I bought last year.

The pictures from the Paddock are taken with the DA* 60-250 and the
DA* 16-50.

George

Here are a few shots from the Silverstone GP from last weekend. We were lucky to win a F1 Paddock tour from Radio Silverstone which was a great experience.

Comments appreciated.

I'm not going but Mallory Park is a great track to get close and personal with the action.

I went to the Triumph Live event there last year and had a great time.

Algi, I don't think you'll regret buying it. Nice blackbird pic by the way.

I was like you with the in-lens SR and I now prefer it. I find its esier to compose at long focal lengths rather than battling to stop myself shaking when using the camera SR.

On shorter focal lengths I don't think theres much between the two.

Thanks for all your comments / suggestions.

Lovely images and well composed, but do yourself a favour and buy a monopod for birding. Many of these shots are not quite as tack sharp as they might be if the camera was not handheld.
Will take this on board, I already have a monopod so need to remember to take this with me next time.

. Maybe better to gain a few stops by opening up the aperture and working at a higher ISO

I've tried to stick to F8 or above as I understood the Sigma was a bit softer wide open, will have a play next time I'm out.

I've given in to temptation and ordered a 150-500mm off SRS. With the K-5 I should be able to stop down to around f/9.5 most of the time. I'll have to see how it compares to the Tokina 80-400mm.
This is one of the reasons the K5 keeps teasing me, at the moment I don't like to go above ISO 800 on the K7, even preferring to stick to 400 and below.

I took these the other week at the same time as the heron pictures I posted. I never used to take many bird pictures but the Sigma 150-500 seems to have opened up new opportunities and its one of my favorites at the moment. All taken handheld.

It was quite dark as they were under some trees. There were 2 Jays but I couldn't get them in the same shot.
