Nope it goes on when you half press the shutter release, no matter how or what.
So when you're working with the AF on the back it's better to half press the shutter first when you get ready for the shot so that the SR has time to get ready.
That makes more sense, af lock from shutter button would therefore interfer with the speed of SR as you would be lifting your finger off the the shutter button each time and hence resetting the SR rather than keeping it contstant. I currently use AF via the shutter button with my K7 and the focus will always lock before the SR comes on, perhaps I need to start use the AF button instead !

I believe it was better to have AF on the shutter release though for the SR.
SR takes some time to get ready and since you can immediately press the release fully it means the SR doesn't have the time to get ready.
If you use AF, the camera will wait for the AF to get a lock and then release the shutter, in that time the SR should be ready.
I thought the SR worked of the back of a focus lock, hence if the AF button is pressed and SR is active (not before) you could carry on pressing the shutter release and the SR would still be set / active ? Whereas if its (AF) is working off the shutter release the SR resets everytime. I'll try and have a play over the weeked to see if I can see any difference.

Number 1 stands out for me as well, excellent set all round.

The upside down ones, whilst very impressive, do not work as well for me. My initial feeling was to rotate them the right way round, especially number 2

Maybe they're cropped too tightly ? Perhaps showing more sea infront of 2 & 6? 4 works better because of this, agree with Matts comments on this.

If I'd have taken them, I'd have been happy with all of them !

I received this for my birthday and had a play today with the K7+ Sigma 105 Macro plus extension tubes.

No adjustments to the flash were made and all were taken with a bit of trial and error by adjusting the aperture / ISO.

I had been trying to get a half decent shot of an ant but they were too quick for me by the time I'd focused or crossed the point of focus.

Any comments appreciated.
