Graffiti Passage

Hello all. This week I was quite taken with a passage/tunnel which passes under Waterloo station in London. It is a pretty dank and murky place (filthy in fact). However, it has been given over to Graffiti artists and so the place is full of it. I tried initially to get some pics with the Sigma 10-20 hand-held at ISO1600, but the results were all a bit noisy (pushing my K-7 a little) so I went back with a Gorillapod and the Pentax 10-17...

I used Topaz adjust to give a sort of HDR quality to these, and the exposures were a struggle as the areas of light are fantastically bright against the general darkness of the tunnel, which I was trying to generally lift so as to actually show the graffiti... I would be interested in any C&C people have.

Have a good weekend everyone

Nice vibrant shots of an interesting subject. The choice of lens was perfect as well.
Best regards, John

Number 2, is my favourite, really feels as if you are being drawn into the tunnel.

Take care.

A great vibrant set of images with a gritty urban edge. I particularly like No. 3 for the reflection, and No.6 for the added interest of the drain and distorted perspective.

Thanks all for the comments. I was very taken with the Gorillapod. It only really works with a pretty lightweight lens but I think it'll be getting a fair bit more use - especially with the DA Ltds...

Really really nice set !

Can you do anything re. vignetting in #1 ? Seems to be the only shot exhibiting obvious vignetting.

I like these a great deal.

The stillness in the reflection in #3 is excellentand the colours are so vibrant.

Big cities offer so many great opportunites- you have shot an urban underbelly and made something quite beautiful IMO.

Photography acheives this better than any other media.

Lovely set. if that was around my way the council would get some uninterested Community Service peeps to splash some hideous magnolia wall paint over it, and make things look terrible.

I love the Vibrant colours, and fish eye is great in there of course.

I do think they are verging on being too "HDR", but I understand why you've done that.
