I tried one out in Merchant City Camera in Glasgow a few weeks ago. It felt a little cheap in my hands, if I'm honest, but menu navigation etc is really straightforward and the collapsible kit lens is really, really neat!
Nikon especially feel like cheap rubbish.

Very nice to use simple menus light compact but solid takes wonderful photos and is also now my wife's preferred camera.
Took it to South America for a 3 week holiday with the pentax 18-135wr lens and really all I can say is this camera has everything I need or want in a camera.
Buy one you won't be disappointed.

I have some experience of long Opteka lenses and other similar brands. I played with a few of these in my early digital days and have to say they are not good.
OK - for the price, you can have some fun with them but I guarantee you will be largely disappointed with the results.
To me there are 2 better options on a budget:
1. Pick up an old used 500mm mirror lens - plenty of them on ebay. The old Tamron SP was a decent lens for the money if you can find one. Mirror lenses do take some practice to get the best out of them and they are not for everybody
2. Pick up an old manual 300mm lens in a Pentax mount and add a tele converter to get you close to the 500mm mark. For the price you can pick up decent old manual glass for - this to me is the best option to reach 500mm on a tight budget.
Regards
Carl
I already have some manual lenses pushing 300mm and a x 2 convertor, they are so heavy though I can only see this working with a tripod, as camera shake is unreal.
I am mostly interested for night shots so the shake shouldn´t be much of a problem.
Will try them out.

I also have a K's and like the screen.
I see no benefit for me in losing the flash for GPS.
Pensax caught up with the K'S but to the mass market I don't think that the new K3 ii will be a winner.
Surely if the work is done on the K'S body it wouldn't be that hard to integrate to the K3.
Certainly a camera I won't ever consider buying.
If the other feature improvements turn out to be superb I will wait until the K3 or whatever with a flash and tilting screen.
I do have a flash unit but it is hardly ever in my bag because of weight and space.

Does anyone have experience of this brand on LPentax?
Don't have the cash for a Sigma or penta so these may be my only option.

I am beyond bemused by Pentax marketing and market research....If they actually have any.
No

I need to stop craving new gear and get on with using what I have, but my lens collection is now way over 20, most of which are old manuals that I will probably never use unless I am mucking about in the house or garden.
Maybe if I clear out most of my unused stuff I can have enough for a new body.....

I will do some comparisons tonight, but I think we´re talking milli seconds of differance, which I appreciate would obvioulsy be huge for airshows.
The camera isn´t as chunky as the K-3, but is really comfy in the hand , one thing I never experienced though is the strap actually gets in the way occassionally, which could be a nuisance if trying to grab shots of planes etc...saw a video o Youtube where the guy always changes the straps for thinner ones, never had an issue on K-50 or K-3 though.
It feels more differant from the K-3 than the K-50 did, maybe just the finishing on the plastic on the KS-2 is less rubbery feeling, hard to explain, but just minor aesthetic things.
Think once the initial price drops it will be the best value DSLR on the market and hopefully will sell like hotcakes.....

Maybe I have big hands but just couldn't see me parting with that much cash for something so plasticy feeling.
I love the K3 & the KS2 I took the latter on a 3 week hot and very dusty and bumpy trip to Uruguay and have no complaints.
Camera still looks like new and handles really well and pics are still great.
I am looking for a 4/3 as well but prefer the feel of the Lumix G5 & Go to the olympus offerings.
Much cheaper a well and highly rated by Eustace and others.
Maybe you should broaden your search....
Meantime buy a KS2 to try out for a while if you don't like it I'd be very surprised you can always sell it for almost what you paid for it.
