Both will work. You will need to change the aperture ring setting to "allow" the manual setting, but that's it.

... the 1.2V is a standard, not-quite-fresh-off-the-charger NiMH rechargeable - Eneloop, Sanyo, Accucell, whatever.

Lithium primaries and lithium ion rechargeables are different, as would be LiFePOs and all the other gazillion variations on chemistry.

The implication in the PentaxForums thread was 1.8V for a single fresh primary with Lithium chemistry. I find that to be way too high for a circuit which is probably designed to work at max 7.5V. Yes, you might be OK, but there will be tolerances...

For me:
- primaries stink and are not used in this household unless they are 100% necessary (one example is one of the remotes, all of the others have ancient rechargeables in)
- I'd stick to reliable chemistry. There's a test over on candlepowerforums where an eneloop has been charged and left for three years; 75% is pretty damned impressive. Testing for Pentax is not something I intend to do unless they're paying me for it.
- Li-Ions fresh off the charger can also reach 4.3V, but higher than that will damage the cells themselves and may cause them to vent. I don't play with Li-Ions at home.

Please do not confuse lithium primaries with Li-Ion rechargeables, they are NOT the same.

yes, they do, which is why GIMP has a "dot for dot" setting. You'll then get your pic at the right dpi for your monitor.

I've seen what the 7D can do at high ISO and... well, I prefer the Pentax ergonomics and that's that. Besides, it's about half the price if imported.

I get through 1500 shots easily (and it's been 3000) with two batteries. Before an important shoot, they get charged. I don't use onboard flash, sensor shake is turned off.

Li-Ions are better than NiMH at cold temps, too. I had my K10D in -10 for 2 hours today with one battery and 300 shots - no problems at all. The NiMHs would / could have not kept up, the chemistry will not allow it.

AAs are not the ultimate powersource and I wish they would disappear from cameras forever.
