Thanks Barrie! I have made a new version based on your suggestions. I cropped it tighter (like yours above) and applied the dodge tool to lighten the boat.

I took this shot yesterday at sunset. Does this image function as a composition, or is the boat to minute in the overall context? Should I have gone for a tighter crop somehow? What do you think?

I prefer the first image. On my monitor it seems to have better contrast, more details and nicer colours. I would not be surprised if the first image is taken with a K-series lens. Possibly K30 f2.8 or K28 f3.5...:

Waiting for DrOrloff to reveal the lenses used!

Thanks Gwyn! You will surely see some of this in Norway in September. It will possibly also be dark enough to see Northern Lights again in September, depending on where in Norway you are traveling.
