Like a fine wine....to borrow a quote...it has (a bouquet?)...it has a bokeh... in photographic terms. But what sort of bokeh do we like? Prompted by discussions in the forum, here's an example of what I like the out of focus areas in an image to look like. Do please comment and also do please post in this thread any examples of your own. let's explore the concept.

I don't have an example but I like the oil painting effect you can get when it looks as if the background has been drawn with a pallet knife.

I like the example you have shown John - that's how I like to see the bokeh as well.
As a matter of interest, what lens was used?

Slightly softer effect

This is nice, lovely transition into OOF

This? sometimes I like..

Busy background beautifully handled by the lens

I have a new found love for my Vivitar 105mm f2.5 series 1 macro lens. I very nearly sold it but thankfully the prospective buyer made me an offer just under my asking price so I kept it.
