Strangely the Pentax one is heavier, although the Pentax has the better aperture range, it is also not as good optically as the Sigma. It does have the WR though, but then again... Sigma has a variety of lenses where the WR is NOT available in the Pentax mont
On what basis are your assumptions founded? Do you have the DFA150-450?

The photographer whose images I linked in the opening of this thread, has posted some more images during the day. Some of the images have been taken with the DFA150-450 + 1.4x converter. He has specified the basic exif details below each image. The DAM* lens looks promising. Hopefully the DFA150-450 will eventually find its way to shops in Trondheim, so it will be possible to try it out!

Apparently a Norwegian photographer has had the DFA150-450 on loan during the Easter holidays, and taken some images. Here is a link to the images and some brief comments:

There is a review of the DA16-85 on the American Pentax forum: link

Are you able to formulate a short summary of the most important points in the patent document
Certainly :

It proposes two separate systems for moving the sensor, one electromagnetic for shake compensation and the other piezoelectric for fast fine pixel-scale adjustment. Plus a lot of patentese repetition and distraction.
Thank you! I became seriously overwhelmed when I opened the patent document, and gave up. But reading your short summary makes me feel quite excited about future Pentax cameras. The future looks bright for Pentax

Thank you for sharing this interesting article! Having owned and used a Sigma DP2 Merrill for about half a year, I must say it sounds very promising that Ricoh Pentax are researching into a "foveon-like" sensor technology. If they manage to produce a sensor that records pure RGB instead of the more common Bayer "guess-work", and implement it into the new FF, it would be quite sensational. Only Sigma Foveon have been able to come up with a sensor that really records colours in full RGB, but their cameras are very cumbersome and quirky, and the Sigma foveon software is terrible. I really hope Pentax can surprise us with something very special with their new FF. Some people hope for a 50mp sensor in this FF Pentax, I hope for a revolutionary new sensor technology: Foveon/Full RGB in a Pentax package.

Amazing views, wonderful colour and I like the fact you've given these pictures context by including some ground level features.

The main challenge (for me) with photographing the Northern Lights is to find good settings that can help in making interesting compositions. Trees are obviously good subjects to include, but also water and buildings can make interesting contrast or complement the aurora. Photographing the aurora as such is not really that difficult, as long as you know how to set up your camera and own a tripod

Thanks for sharing Bjørn - pretty amazing. No 2 is my fav followed by no 4 and 5. The size/ spread across the landscape/ sea I shown off so well in that last one
Number 2 is my favourite in this set as well. I am quite impressed with how the DA15 brings out detail in the aurora.

Are you ready for the eclipse on Friday?
Good photo in your link from the Netherlands! It is quite unique that the Northern Lights can be seen this far south.

I am ready for the eclipse, except that I have no proper filter (Baader filter i.e.) to put on my camera lens. I would have loved to capture the eclipse with my Pentax.
