Thanks Algi, I will surely check out your suggestion with putting a dust cloth over the lenses. It is also good to hear that silica gel is proven safe product to use with photo equipment.

I am looking for some advice regarding how to best store lenses when not in use. Currently I store my lenses in an open bookshelf in my study in our house. Consequently the lenses are subject to air circulation and a stable temperature and humidity. The main drawback is that the lenses collect dust on the exterior, so they have to be cleaned every now and then.

I know some people store their lenses in lens containers like the Lowepro lens cases series, together with silica gel. I am contemplating acquiring a few of these Lowepro lens cases for the lenses I value the most. Is there any drawback with using silica gel? Is there a possibility of the silica gel drying out the grease/oil found inside the lenses? (Maybe this is a silly question, so please excuse my ignorance...)

I am grateful for any advice on this matter!

Thank you Peter! The most interesting shots were taken with 1/125 and 1/160 shutter speeds, and the images look OK on the camera lcd. I have just returned from a holiday travel, and have not had the time to study the images on a proper monitor yet.

I have seen how the SR works when using telelenses on a tripod, and forgetting to turn the SR off. Then image blur and loss of sharpness can be easily observed. However, with my mistake described above, the possible detrimental effect of wrong SR FL input is harder to spot, hence my question.

Some days ago I took some shots with my Pentax K-5iis and a manual focus 30mm lens. When looking at the images today, I realised I had forgotten to input the correct focal length, the focal length input in the SR system was 50mm.

The images look OK, but I am unsure what negative impact the wrong SR focal length could have had on these images? Will the images be less sharp than they would have been with the correct SR value?

I am grateful for any advice on this matter!

Maybe there is a fingerprint on the negative?

An interesting experiment and a wonderful set of diverse images!

My everyday kit consists of the K5-iis and only two lenses, the SMC K30/2.8 and the HD DA 15/4, in other words a "normal" lens and a wide angle lens. With the K30/2.8 I use green button metering and "catch in focus", and do not find this limiting at all. I must be old fashioned

I sold my FA* 28-70mm f2.8 last year, but my version could focus just past infinity, similar to other zooms I have had. The focusing on this lens was very precise and fast on my K-5. I must mention that my zoom had had an expensive and thorough service where, amongst other things, the power zoom motor had been replaced. As a conclusion, my lens had no focussing issues, but was very responsive and precise. I should probably not have sold it
