wow. cheers for all the above help. it makes me glad i've gone down the pentax route. i wanted to shoot wildlife mostly but then have a little versatility in shooting other things perhaps not quite as far away (my friends wedding for one). it's a tough and expensive decision and i may be coming down a little on the sigma side but boy do i like the 200mm pentax. a little more thought and testing required. thanks again for all the help though.

hi

Can anyone give me some advice. it was all so easy last week. i thought about getting the da 200mm. i tried it out, liked the weight so it was just a case of saving some more beans to get it. however, looking at the various websites some people really attack the purple fringing of this lens. I realise the sigma gives better versatility but all i really want to know which lens gives the best Image Quality?. hope someone can help. thanks

I use +1 on sharpness and contrast and leave everything else well alone. I'm not convinced the contrast adjustment is worth making. If you shoot raw, of course, these settings are ignored. The colour adjustments can take you into a hell that's best avoided unless you have lots of time on your hands and enjoy endless fiddling with an unpredictable outcome. The standard settings seem to do the job.

Enjoy your GX20. It's a very fine camera.

hi. if anyone shares this camera could they perhaps outline what they think is a good standard picture set-up in the menu ie. contrast and sharpening values to have in order to get the most realistic match to what you are actually seeing. i have tried the custom setting too with a variety of colour settings and i think it's slowly driving me insane now i know this is a a pentax user forum and although it's a gx20 body i douse a da40mm and an smc-A 50mm 1.7 so i guess i qualify as a user. cheers Barry
