I've seen one FA43Ltd assembled in Vietnam at a Montréal retailer store.

Now, go clean your glasses.
Ok, that's the first one I know of.
And still... I have one yet to see in UK

There are currently no true Tessar designs in the Pentax range (the last being the M50/4 macro). The only lens that conforms to a Planar design is the FA50/1.4 (although I'm not sure if that counts as lens currently in production or not?).

None of the DA or FA Limiteds conform to a Zeiss patent, although the DA40 is similar to the offspring of a Tessar and a Heliar.

Most of what is posted in the thread you've linked to could be reasonably be filed under "total guff".
isn't FA43 sharing it's optical layout with FA50?
and 77ltd doesn't seem to be too far off either... I'm not saying they are exactly the same but they all have the same number of elements with very similar layout. Sure 77ltd has FREE design but still seems to be derived from the same formula as 43/50(1.4 and 1.2 versions)

the DA40 is derivate of tessar. There is one more element at the end of it but the origins are pretty sure...

well, this one is bit puzzling to me too.
all DA ltds are assembled in Vietnam, FA31 and FA77 are now assembled in Vietnam now too. So with those two you will get sellers saying MIJ or AIV version. Most of the ones which are now sold new in shops will be AIV, unless shops have old stock. But! I have yet to see AIV FA43ltd! I haven't seen any news, rumours or anything to support the theory that FA43 is now AIV. Logic would say the new ones should be AIV but as I said, I have yet to see one....

So it came here too...
There was a discussion about this on another Pentax forum. The article is around year old and "predicts" 645D and K-5 (but let's be honest they were not the hardest to predict...) As far as the lenses go, it's mock ups of what the authors would like to see from Pentax. The article itself was translated and analysed many times by different folks and the conclusion was they are "dream" or so called "what if" lenses. Let's move on...

thanks, but the first one starts at £40 which has a potential to go quite a bit higher and the second one is not in cosmetic condition worth £45 IMO... I'll keep looking...

The 31mm is in reality too long to be a true "naked eye" lens on a cropped sensor, the closest to true is the 28mm,(science bit - the hypotenuse is just over 28mm on APS-C and just under 43mm on FF) but Pentax have never had a fast 28mm, so the 31mm is the closest we can get.
I wouldn't say it's too long. It's still shorter than 50mm is on FF.
And as for fast 28s, there were K28/2, and M/A28/2. Fast enough IMO, considering they are wide angle FF designs from few decades ago... The only reason why they don't make one now IMO, is that it would more likely kill off 31ltd if it was comparable price and DA* (meaning WR + SDM - or DC)
