The share of the market is very little when compared to CaNiSon and I wouldn't be surprised if Oly and Panasonic would. Have bigger share then Pentax.
Going the Leica way would make sense IMO but they need to start offering something quite different to what they do now. Anyway, as it stands, the higher prices didn't seem to scre people away, just look at the bodies sales. K-x and K-5 were big hits in stores when they hit the shelves.

Comment by axl posted on FOR SALE: SMC Pentax 1:1.2/50 (original K series 75-77) at 24/03/2011 - 22:51
1:1.2/50 was original production run of K series from 1975 to 1977
1:1.2 50mm was officially K series but was manufactured along the M series lenses from 1978 to 1984

Tim, as others have posted and noted, the lens is 52mm diameter. I only use the 49mm pinch cap when the hood is on (in whichever position) as it's easier to use then 52mm cap.
anybody interested in the lens itself?

Hi Axl, is that bit about the 49mm cap a typo? Someone I know is interested but currently has 49mm filters which he would like to continue using.
no it's not a typo. The lens is 52mm but... the hood has 2 empty filter rings on it, one from front and one from back (for normal and reversed mounting). I did try 52mm on top of the filters but since the cap practically goes on the rear end of the filter, the 49mm fits better.

And I very rarely apply distortion or vignetting correction during my PPing. The only lens I bother with distortion is FA*24 and even with that not on all shots. As far as CAs go, sometimes I correct them but not unless distractingly visible. Vignetting? I actually prefer shots with it most of the times and often add some during PPing.
So, as you say, to have a choice is great.. and I choose not to
