After a little bit of help with a question i have if poss.
Basically i have 2x 18-55mm kit lens, the ones with the silver band. i'm looking at the DA versions...not the DA L that i have. now i know the difference in the DA and the DA L is the metal mount and the manual override on focus, but whats the difference in the mk1 and mk2 DA lens? is it really worth me getting the mk2 as opposed to the mk1

The mk II has upgraded optics from the mk I - but so does the DA L according to http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/zooms/short/index.html.

Hmm so is it even worth me buying the DA then?

Not unless you really want the Quick Shift (manual override on focus).

I've got the DA 18-55mm AL WR and find it's a great lens for the buck. Sharp with good contrast.

I always use it in lieu of my 16-50mm when I want to pack a light weight system for walkabout.

But you can't compare the optics with the 16-50mm which goes without saying.

Hope this helps.

Any of the standard 18-55 lenses would be worth having.

The only difference between the Mk1 and Mk2 models is an extra coating allowing better resolution on the larger sensors.

If you have the L version then really the best upgrade would be to the 16-50 or similar.

There is a difference with the elements, actually:
