Welcome to the looney bin, I have the 12-24 and it's great for interior shots for architects and realtors. It's sharp and smooth, and freakin' BIG!!
We all know what New Year's resolutions are worth. I give you a month, tops!

"I have resolved to buy no more LENSES in 2006" HA!
So, bodies, lightmeters, filters, tripods, flashes, darkroom supplies, lighting gear and camera cases are all still fair game, eh? That'll hold you for a while.
C'mon Pentax, introduce something new and sexy for mid year. I'll be able to feel the after shocks of George falling off the wagon - and I live in Canada.
George, I know this isn't very supportive on my part, but I'm just repaying you in kind and havin' some fun, old Son.
I look forward to your report on the new 12 - 24.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death ... hmmm, a fill-flash could help there ... I ... Get thee behind me, Pentax!!
Cheers

Mac,
I hope to get it on Monday, and will report back. From the pictures I have seen taken with this lens, it looks pretty good, but perhaps not great. It's also a lot of money (compared to the many lenses I have bought on Ebay). Even my 31 Ltd cost less (not much, but still less).
But, this is the price of the digital crop factor. My long lenses are much longer; which is great, but the wides are now narrow. (I know a lot of women who would love to go digital. In fact, looking in the mirror, perhaps I should go digital myself.)
So I've dug deep into the piggy bank, and resolved to buy no more lenses this year. Of course, if either of the two SMCP-FA 200mm lenses come on the market at a good price, I have a dispensation. (It's convenient to be able to grant one's own dispensations.)
Also, I don't count real bargains which one has a duty to take advantage of. After all, who would be so unwise, or ungrateful, as to cock a snook at Fate?
It helps, too, that by "year", I mean the Chinese year. This, incidentally, ends on 28 January 2006.

My Mum used to smoke. One cigarette a day she said. Then she said well, except weekends. And then: weekends are really Friday, Saturday, Sunday aren't they?
If we take this logic and apply it to lenses, I think that gets george "off the hook" and able to buy as many lenses as he wants....
Come to think of it, I can do the same can't I?

I just took a shot straight into the sun with the 12-24 and there is NO flare. None, nada, zip, zilch.
I, for one, am impressed.

I'm very grateful for George Lazarette.
In fact, this year when we went around the table at Thanksgiving (local holiday) telling everyone what we were grateful for - I said "George". "George who?" they chimed. "Why, my relative George" I replied. "Oh" they mumbled as they racked their brains trying to remember a long lost family member.
Now, you see, I didn't really lie. George IS a relative of mine when you consider that everything is relative, and when I look at my love of Pentax and the associated compulsion to own everything Asahi, why, my spending habits are downright miserly when compared to George's!
Every obsessive compulsive needs a George, and I've got mine.
Bless you, George, and keep up the excellent standards. Resolutions be damned! (I love the way you've already wheedled out of them - I have so much more to learn from you, my master.)
Cheers

Golly, Mac, I'm still just a novice. I know somebody with seven LX bodies, and I've seen him with four round his neck at the same time. Of course, he was travelling, and had been obliged to leave three at home.
But thank you for the kind words. I don't suppose I'm quite so popular with Mrs Mac.
