Beautifully clear in SW Devon, a tad chilly though- just seen the first meteor, in the South sky

Looks like I will have to invest in some calibration software. Interestingly, I had a print produced by a local camera shop to check the background and it was uniformly black.

The merging of the black suit/dresses and the background was deliberate. There was little contrast there anyway, so the effect of allowing the dark clothes to merge into the background was intentional, honest!

I posted an inquiry a couple of months ago asking for advice with regard to taking photos at our village ball. Here are a couple of the results:

The pictures were taken in a marquee, with a lot of spot lighting, over which I had no control. I fixed a black backdrop to a side wall, and used a single strobe, triggered by the camera flash. Any comments?

I have seen an almost white blackbird, but they are unusual, and gtis shot is certainly a result as Paul says. However, on a photography site, it will (and should) invite a technical response!

That makes the orchid look almost scary. Lovely colours and good DoF. The 105mm Sigma?

I prefer the layout of the second, and in particular, the option to see thumnails before selection.
As the others have said, it is a pain to load though.

The mono dog walkers for me, it seems colder!

All with the 300mm. The AF seemed rather reluctant, perhaps the cold?

Andrew, I wanted the update to enable my k10 to fire a remote flash, which it would not do on v1. Not noticed any other differences yet.
