Sigh... its intuitive, but obviously not enough... Right-click on the TaskBar and look at the Properties... Untick "Auto Hide"...
Isn't it always on-top then. If you search the net there have been a lot of complaints that the taskbar has been changed when no one wanted it changing. Did Ms ask anybody if they wanted this feature... unlikely. Did you notice it was different.... seems not

This seems to be the fix link only 8 pages so they may have fixed it. I only use Win 7 for backups now.

This must be a right pain for people who work very fast with a mouse all over the screen such as Cad Technicians when they want to SNAP to a line at the bottom of the screen and the taskbar pops up and blocks their view. or even for gamers.

It seems the latest Logitech software is no better than the earlier stuff Still no "Page Down" strangely there is a "Page Up" so I could look through the photos backwards That was also in the previous version. PD and PU are used in all sorts of programs such as Adobe Reader.

I also use the Task bar to launch all the programs I use in XP but the the one in Win 7 with the large Mattel Toy type Icons isn't going to allow many quick launches, it keeps disappearing anyway

The bit about the tripod QR plate is true it's on a Rotax B&S Head on a Linhof tripod that stands nearly 7 ft high. I only used it on about 500 weddings so testing was never completely finished. It never held anything heavier than a Hasselblad either, so not fully stress tested

I don't think they make Plastic Metal as good these days
or tripods for that matter

Thora, don't forget to buy some blu-tak Plastic Metal is also quite good, I've still got a tripod head stuck on with it about 25 years ago

Have you actually bought the 645 lens yet. There seems to be a lot of work involved and at the end of the day if you want to use the lens at say f/8 you will have to set it at f/8 and focus at f/8... just the same as with extension tubes. Not impossible I often do it with pre-set lenses.

Microsoft have coined the phrase "Patch Tuesday" the second Tuesday of each month, where they release a bulk pack of patched. A note for Algi, Microsoft are stopping all support for any XP system that does not have SP3 installed after next month.
For an OS that's 10 years old quite unbelievable that they are still fixing bugs. They should pay us for the time spent watching the updates being done I'll have to check two PC's and one Toshiba laptop to see if they are SP3.

I've a small free program running called Netmeter and it shows you a graph of the DL speeds. Even on a 10meg cable MS updates are usually very slow. Netmeter doesn't seem to work with Win 7 and the developer has stopped work on it. Pity MS don't buy it and include it with Windows also shows any malware sending out info.

Thanks I did DL from there a few months ago, but it looks like a new release on the 8th June so I'll give it a try. The problem was that the "Page Down" and "Page Up" buttons didn't work which makes the computer useless for looking through photos with ACDSee and probably Farstone. The daft thing was that it gave a list of actions that you could assign to the buttons, but PD and PU were missing. I use the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman with the laptop, nowhere near as good as the Marble mouse, but cordless so better for a laptop. I might try that on Win 7 if the Marble still doesn't work. Then I need to hack the taskbar to make it work as in XP.

I still prefer Winfile from NT4 over Explorer. It works in a fashion on Win 7 and XP, but I wish MS would bring it back properly. Info about usage here and latest updated version here

I'm surprised at all the people saying they are happy with Win 7 even though it isn't compatible with Pentax software I bet all the ones who bought a K20D instead of a K-7 so that they could have tethered shooting aren't saying that

Thanks for some great feedback guys!

Algi - I hadn't actually thought about a potential colour clash of the purple and red.

I personally don't see this as much of an issue - but that's just me - what do others here think about this?
With a moth like that you haven't time to think of colours It's a case of trying to catch a shot of it which you have done exceptionally well. A lot of moths and butterflies land on weeds and we just have to accept and live with that. That particular moth might only land on thistles, so it's OK

You would have thought that was taken with an expensive Macro lens. I've always liked the Kit lens. Nice bokeh as well even though I wouldn't think that was a strong feature of the kit lens.

Nothing can be done about the colour clash between the purple thistle and the red spots unfortunately.

I've just spent an hour installing all the Creative Audigy stuff and still no sound. I'll remove it all again tomorrow and see what happens.

I've recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 on it but too much stuff doesn't work properly on it, particularly a Logitech Marble mouse , so I just use that machine as an extra backup of all my all my SDHC cards. It's also got a Seagate eSATA(3GB/s) drive on it so I keep that in sync with the HD and just move the eSATA drive around if I need to.

I can't believe all the USB2 External Drives still being sold? eSATA is 6x faster and the drive inside a USB2 enclosure is a SATA drive anyway. Just a SATA cable and power lead poked out of the box would allow a SATA drive to be connected that runs at the same speed as the main HD instead of the measly 12-20MB/s that USB2 runs at.

I'm rapidly losing trust in XP Pro. It found problems the other day and ran Scandisk at startup fixed/messed up a few files. Audigy souncard wouldn't work, so I went back via restore about two weeks. Still problems so I went right back to March and it's still not right. What use is restore if it doesn't restore?

I'd always put off SP3 but did it in April, but it never asked me to do it again? so I don't know if it's installed properly. Too much stuff on the computer to reinstall everything.

When I get this fixed I'm going to image the C: partition once a month at least then I know if I go back, I have gone back.

They seem to be messing quite a bit up on ebay lately Obviously never heard the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" A few weeks ago if I did a search from Advanced Search it worked as usual, but the search button on the results page wouldn't let me do another search, I had to go back to advanced search. At one point the BIN bmp wasn't showing, but that could have been a corrupt file in my cache. I can't remember the other problem I had, except it went on for about a week.

I never see the adds due to Adblock in Firefox.
