I have been looking for a used one of these for almost a year now, with no luck. It is looking more likely that I will have to buy a brand new one, and they are not the easiest to get hold of, nor cheap.

I have since discovered several interesting articles in that other pentax forum for making a simple home made adapter from a 645 lens cap and a 35mm body cap and utilising an extension tube to add distance.
Another method used the end fitting from a redundant 35mm lens and a plasic pipe distance piece and then glued into a 645 lens end cap. These were for Mamiya lenses.
But! It all requires a little know how. The distance between the two flanges is critical for infinity focus.
Any clever member able to help with that measurement for Pentax lenses, please.

John. Let's see how I get on. I am presently looking at using a rear lens cover with a pentax body cover.
The technical side is somewhat beyond me. There are issues with focus to infinity and getting the flange distances at the correct distance.
Waiting to find a rear 645 pentax lens cap. If you know of a source it would help the process through.
Will proceed as stated in the other Forum but leave the opportunity to fit a distance piece between the two parts to achieve correct focus.
With me it is trial and error. No technical know how.

Register distance of the K-Mount is 45,46mm and the 645 is 70,87mm.
I don't know the depth of the lens cap so can't say how long the tube must be but the whole adapter must be around the 25,41mm.
If you make it longer you lose infinite focus.

If it's possible to assemle it non-permanent, so to speak, I'd start long and shave it a liitle at a time, you can always take some off, but........................Register distance of the K-Mount is 45,46mm and the 645 is 70,87mm.

I'd be worried about the stresses on the plastic lens tail cap - remember that they're designed to support their own weight, not that of a camera body or a lens (depending on which part has the tripod mount)!
Make sure your joints are solid, as it'd be a really silly way to break a camera or lens.

There are many considerations, not least weight. My first concern is to produce a prototype and support the lens via a video support arm.
I have been trawling the E.Bay lens adapters site, and there are several metal adapters that I am looking at, not least the type that fits to the dslr body with an internal thread, primarily to attach a lens reversed for macro.
I am anticipating that a clever mate will produce a tube with that thread to connect.
There is also available a 645 Pentax to Canon fitting. I am wondering if the Canon fitting can be substituted with a Pentax type. Any thoughts??
