How about this Topcon 50mm f/1.7 K mount lens and camera for £16

I can't believe 204 people looked at and didn't bid. That was the last Topcon camera model ever made.

Topcon used to make some good solid cameras. They even made some for the US Navy and FBI as well as the Japanese military. There original (and still to this day) business was surveying instruments, cameras were just an offshoot. They are 2nd only to Leica in surveying instruments having taken over their major competitor Sokkia. link

I'm not sure of the exact models, but Google throws up quite a bit of info if you just put in Pentax 100mm macro cement elements

This link might work

This one discusses a possible repair

Sorry that last link has to be pasted into the browser.

The earlier 100mm f/4 macros are known to have problems with the cement becoming cloudy between the elements.

OS on the lens can actually make sense with something like the Bigma as you can see when it is working, which you can't with in camera IS.
I have heard one or two people say that this actually makes them feel "sea-sick", which is quite interesting. Nothings suits everyone I guess.
I would imagine that it would make manual focussing difficult?

Nice and sharp and I like the original crop the best.
Not too keen on all the green stuff on the water though.

Quite a nice set and a nice idea, however I don't think "Duality" is a very suitable title. "Pairs" would probably be more suitable?

Most people understand "duality" to mean "opposites" in the way the Buddhists use it to describe the world we live in.... a world of duality where opposites exist and have a right to exist... day and night.. short and tall... hot and cold etc.

Not really blaming you. It's the way the boards set up.

Thanks for explaining that John. I'm sure I'm not the only one confused by it It is a bit pointless having it really (unless it's meant to put other people off from trying to be helpful) because he'd already said:

"Thank you for the link , am going to try one
just to see how i get on with it - Adrian"

For any one else who happens to come across this thread and is interested in magnifiers the following thread discusses the O-ME53 and KPS quite well.

Nowhere does he say anything about it being cheaper, perhaps he would prefer a Pentax one which will fit well rather than having to use an adapter.
He's highlighted a post that just say's that it is cheaper Ken, which is what I'm complaining about. There was no need to highlight the post. It's not anything like a full answer to the original question.
