Lol - it's actually been a really nice day today. Even had our 3 year old out with the paddling pool. Sorry if that's not the same for you!

We have had rain and grey skies all day (last one of the Bournemouth air festival). Nice lens, I use mine a lot .. especially for aircraft. Much better on the K-7 than the K10D as you have the higher ISO performance to play with.

Hi Oggy - no it's not the latest OS/HSM version, it's the DG.

Certainly looks the part, more so than 'white lenses' IMHO.

How does it compare to the Sigma 150-500mm?

My Dad is muttering about DSLRs again and wants a giant lens (he initially wanted a gigantic white drainpipe with Canon or Nikon on, but I think I've talked him around to a K-x or K7 and a Bigma as he still has his fully functional K2 and likes the sound of a body which won't be much of a learning curve), but there's about £800 difference between the 150-500mm and 50-500mm brand new from SRS.

Funnily enough, the Sigma 150-500 was the lens I intended to get for further reach as cost-wise it aint that bad really (and it's HSM too).

But then I found Pete selling his 'Bigma' for a very reasonable price (£550) so jumped at that.

The 50-500 you see in SRS for £1189.99 right now, is the latest version with OS and HSM, whereas the version I have is the previous EX DG model which does not have it's own optical stabilisation (not that we need it) and HSM.

You might be lucky and find a used copy of the previous Bigma at a good price.
