thermometer Looks like there's plenty of heat coming off
that bird Amazing detail considering red doesn't usually
photograph too good.
Happy Christmas.

Either that's only a 50mm 'M' lens or its got faults.
Beware of cloudy 100mm ones due to element separation.
I wouldn't personally want a macro that didn't show the
f stop inside the camera i.e. no 'A' setting on lens.

Nice one Mike! I agree with those comments - it's what I would consider a "working copy". No worries so long as the AF and the optics are fine. The results are what matters. Algi was kind enough to post links to some of my images, for whatever that might be worth.
Regards,
Marc
I think Sams probably getting a better picture of what it's worth now and because he prefers a sale through this forum and it sounds like the buyer is going to have to have a look at the lens first it might be better that way.
If it were a Fender guitar you would have to pay extra for the scratches

some indication of value and until he supplied all the photos it
wasn't possible to give that indication. I gave what I thought it
was worth obviously only an auction will give the correct figure.
One did sell for $6500 last year which was $1500 below what the
seller paid for it link (Edit: same as given in previous post).
Marc (also member of this forum) mentioned that he knew of one
for $6600 in Japan about a month ago in this thread link
Smeggy gave this link to some lens reviews and the prices ranged
from $6600 to $7400 (3 lenses)
The photo on this page shows the grey tape that's missing.

The reason the FA is heavier is that it's a power zoom.
Here's one that sold on the other forum.
Some photos with it on this forum.

I think your going to have to wait for brighter weather when the
same exact shot will probably be f/8 at 1/250th (ish) and will be
sharper. If possible with the 55-300mm try for f/11 or half a stop
under that to get maximum sharpness and DOF.
Using 320ISO or 400ISO will give you a faster shutter speed but
400ISO for birds on a K-7 is a bit noisy, but you haven't much
of an option at this time of year. Luckily the pheasant wasn't
moving if it had been 1/20th would have just been a blur.

The service center confirmed the issue (after trying to clean it again). They advised the agent and I can pickup a new one at the dealer on Friday or Saturday.

Stock is 'infected'; agent ordered new stock so I have to wait till after the holiday

The camera shop which I got my K5 from 2wks ago has returned their entire stock to Pentax. It's a big place too; both mail order and retail.

just a brief observation: mayfair sankor sounds like mamiya sekor.
i suspect that was probably done on purpose. the mamiya 50/1.4 in m42 is a beaut.
called it MaMaMia Senor!
Mayfair either because they thought it sounded posh or it
was a line for a dealer in Mayfair?
Sankor either a brand name or made by Sankyo?
