A Very Merry Christmas (in red) @ 600mm

Posted 18/12/2010 - 21:45 Link
Hi,

Even though it's taken on Christmas Day, 2009, thought I'd share in the upcoming holidays and in the spirit of Christmas. This was our first white Christmas in 10 years here in Arkansas - memories of the home country (Canada)... A balmy 23F or -5C without the windchill.

What a stunning picture, Marc. Look at all the detail! I'm lost for words. Thank you very much for sharing and a Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

Thank you Lidy and the best to you and yours too!

This image made it into PPG (Pentax Photo Gallery) after some folks suggested I submit it. I'm still amazed that this zoom can do in terms of IQ performance. It's just the default conversion settings from ACR (Adobe Camera Raw). No sharpening or anything else.

Take Care,
Marc

23 deg F Nice to see someone still using a properly marked
thermometer Looks like there's plenty of heat coming off
that bird Amazing detail considering red doesn't usually
photograph too good.

Happy Christmas.

Correct word, wrong spelling...

Merry Christmas everyone.

I've never seen a shot, or a bird, quite like this. Well done and Merry Christmas.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Nice - in fact very nice

Maybe one day I may have a copy of that lens, maybe
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Nice colour and sharpness.

The file name suggests you used Adobe RGB. Is that right?

Thank you Tim - the time of day for this shot and it's lighting lasted perhaps 10-15 minutes. It was worth the 2 hours of waiting for the clouds to clear a little bit.

Many thanks to both of you. Actually the Cedar Waxwings over in North America are but one bird I wish to photograph - some day perhaps!

Cheers,
