One of the best moon shots I've ever seen

It's amazing how they charge so much for long lenses and scopes
are only about 20% of the price but produce pics that are often
better They are multi element special glass and coated.

There's someone on the Pentax Forums (could be a member here
as well) who posted some cracking bird shots in the 300mm and
longer thread taken with a scope..... 600mm if memory serves

Very often the readings from converters don't make sense
I normally just take a couple of test shots and look at the histogram

You can actually read the LV afterwards with PhotoMe I normally take
the Centre reading..... see if you can make anything of it... comparing
it with a reading with no converter?

Generally Sigma converters lose a little bit less than the Pentax
ones, possibly because they are usually 4 element. The 1.7x should
only lose 1.7 stops.

Are you sure it's not just the tripod foot that's in the way?
That should come off as shown here (in Russian unfortunately) I think it will work with that removed, if not the extension tube should work,
because you only use these lenses within 5M and losing
infinity focus won't be a problem.

That's a very nice (and expensive) lens I nearly bought
one once, but backed out because the seller had bad feedback.

OK Flossie, I understand what your saying. Your Hazro looks nice
but it's a step or two up from Samsung also a lot bigger.
I actually bought the Samsung because I liked the stand and
the the computer is in the living room so I wanted something
that looked smart I also didn't want widescreen which
restricted my choice quite a bit.

Good as automated calibration systems may - or may not be - they can't make a poor monitor with a limited colour gamut and lots on consumer-fooling trickery (10 billion:1 contrast ratio claims etc etc) significantly better. For many people, they would have been better spending the £300 cost of a calibration system on a better monitor in the first place, and then lineing it up by hand - its not that hard, and you have to accept there will always be limitations to the ability of your display - that's why even with broadcast grade 1 monitors lined-up (...by hand...) daily, we look at the vectorscope to be sure.
Not sure who you are getting at here? If it's me my monitor was a premium Samsung model 971P Review when I bought it about 3 years ago. I shouldn't have calibration problems with it. I know that Argyll had problems finding Huey last time and this particular monitor has to be controlled by software... no mechanical controls so just get down off your high horse.

Well this was a bit of a pointless exercise. No matter how I use the adapter, the only M42 lens I have (Helios 40-2), won't fit the K5 anyway. The collar on the lens is so wide that it hits off the flash housing. It won't sit flush with the camera mount.

Oh well...

Thanks for the help anyway!
Don't say that's another problem with the K-5 ...... Old Lenses not fitting!!!

Maybe Sony concentrate on not getting "A String of Pearls"

They may also be using a half silvered mirror?
I don't follow their camera's very closely

Isn't the K-5 sensor also in a Sony DSLR?

When shooting using the focus indicator/trap in focus techniques the images seemed out-of-focus.

So...

Do MF lenses need AF adjustment when using the camera to confirm focus? I can't think of a reason why they would be spared but I have never thought about it before.

I don't think anyone's actually answered your question

For use with the green light or trap focus they do need checking
and possibly adjusting. I've never really noticed any to be out
though, so I've never tested any.

You'd stand a better chance selling the head with a photo?
The tripod is well known and shouldn't need a photo, but not
many people will know what a sidewinder is?
