It you restrict adverts to people with X Posts you KILL OFF ALL THE BARGAINS!

There have been a few good 'bereavement sales' on here. I remember one with a great big long list of good stuff which went for reasonable prices. Sadly there will be more of these now that Pentax have a range going back over 50 years.

Then there was the ONE OFF sale from a non-Pentax user of the 250-600mm Zoom which went for a bargain price! Perhaps you should ask Unlocker if he thinks such posts should be banned

That looks a decent test Matt, possibly not enough fine detail to pick out a winner, but they all look close and therefore all usable.

From Wikipedia "Can be rewritten over 100,000 times for the lowest write speed discs". It can verify as it's writing to the disk.

I'm on my 2nd Panasonic HDD Recorder DMR-EX83 and it won't let me copy programs off the HDD to DVD+/R if they are in 16:9 format. It will let me copy to DVD-RAM though...... I wonder who's responsible for that? I'm not too bothered because it copies Fast about 12 mins for a 2 hour program.

Hot! Dogedy! Your right! ..... they aren't blown, it's just my monitor that sees everything above 251R 251G 251B as white..... I'll have to get Huey on the job again.... Sorry about that

Considering these are high speed motion shots they very good considering that only normal equipment was used. Had the birds been stationary they would have been a lot sharper.

Nice shots Mike, but (not a criticism of your photos) the K-5 which is supposed to have a high dynamic range still can't handle the highlights and shadows on a swan any better than say a K20D. The top shot looks about half a stop overexposed for the highlights and that would make the shadows really black

I've had some decent swan photos from the 55-300mm and a K20D so I can't see any advantage in K-5 apart from high ISO which would be nice

DVD-RAM disks were just a suggestion and I use them and I'm happy to go on using them. If others prefer other media that's fine by me.

The heavyweights of industry such as IBM and their clients use them on servers and also quite a lot of CCTV in City Centres and on London Underground use them, especially for Court Evidence.

There are also some very expensive Audio recorders that use them. Fostex DV40 : DVD Master Recorder

Or this

They are mechanical and break down A DVD-RAM disk is just like having the platter off a HDD and it's protected by a good cartridge. It can be carried around (in your camera bag if you want) and won't get damaged. Can't do that with a HDD.

What HDD interfaces will be available on a computer in 10 years time? Only a few years ago SCSI drives were the best (and most expensive) you could buy. Now you would struggle connecting one to a PC as a lot of people have found with SCSI scanners. At least BluRay can read (and write) to DVD-RAM so it should be around for sometime

If you do test them Matt, it would be better to keep the image size the same for each lens. I usually just put two blobs of Blu-Tak at the edge of the frame that I can see through the viewfinder and then with the 2nd lens move back and forth until the Blu_Tak is in the same place in the frame.

I recently tried the 135mm f/3.5 M against a 135mm Jupiter f/3.5 (37A) and the Jupiter was much sharper as well as having much better Bokeh. Not bad for £25. It focuses OK preset to f/8 as well.

Someones done a quick and dirty Shootout between: M100/2.8, M120/2.8, M135/3.5 on the other forum. He found the M100 to be the sharpest, which is what I would have expected link
