What I have noticed from these posts is that the D saving to CF gets around 36 RAW files per 512Mb, whereas the DS/DL saving to SD get around 45+. Any ideas why?
I believe that the newer cameras have a better lossless compression applied to the RAW files

Dave,

The number of RAW for a 2 Gb card seems very low to me. My 2Gb CF card for *istD holds 144 RAW images. Also from your own figures, a 2GB card should hold approx 4x that of the 512Mb card!

Our local Jessops (Sutton) has one on display, including both lenses!

You need to get one dedicated for Pentax as the contacts vary from one camera make to another

Thanks for this, Matt! Used to be an engineer, but stopped before NiMhs appeared! Was slightly more acquainted with the quirks of Ni-Cads!

Also, its a shame that the 'natural' potential of some of these re-chargeables isn't 1.5 v like the CRV-3/ AA alkaline!

Can't try out any suggestions - camera and grip still at pentax sorting out banding issue on some pictures. Have asked them to look at this issue with the grip at same time, tho'!

re- the original post and use for macro work.

I have used a 'white' LED torch to illuminate an object from oneside, a tungsten bulb in an angle-poise lamp on the other. With camera WB set to Tungsten, you get great colours - still a yellow-orange from the tungsten, plus a blue from the LED torch

Matt,

I don't have the Adobe DNG converter - is it compatible with Elements 2? or can it stand alone?

Andy

Ps I wasn't near any EMI stuff - just on a beach with nearest street lamps about 150metres away - unless the guy fishing had something txing!

Another question to ask is: has this always happened?
Not sure - but suspect it has. I remember a few shots taken several months ago where I think banding occurred.

A thought - re another thread and batteries/ battery grip etc and the use of Ni-MH batteries - could it be a low voltage problem causing internal supply around the sensor to 'wobble' a bit? The banding is not fixed - ie on the previous shot to the one posted the bands are in a different position to this
