I have had similar problems with my 50-135 and it appeared dead on my K5II and then I tried fitting it on my MZ 7 and the screw drive made it jump back into life again, I then put it back on the K5II and it worked perfectly, so now if I find it not working, I slip it on the film body to bring it back to life.

McGregNi Thanks for your help, I shall have to take a little time to digest but hopefully get some results, thanks again.

McGregNi, Thanks for the reply, yes it's actually 'camera utility 4', unfortunately in me trying to open up a Raw file, it's mow refusing to do anything and i'm getting a message telling me that it's no longer working and trying to report the problem to Microsoft. When I originally tried opening the Raw file, I got the message telling me that there was no info on the file, so I resorted to using the in-camera function, which at least works.
Chrism8, Yes that's what I thought but apparently not but thank you as well.

I have the K5II and also Silkypix but can't suss out how to convert a DNG file to a TIFF file with this software, I am presently using the in camera facility, is this the best way to proceed?.

The mention of a higher synchro speed reminds me that my old Z -1 film camera had a 250th sec sync and surely now, with the right flashgun and set to HSS you can use at any speed.

Hi everybody, I have a K5II and a MZ7 to which I attach my DA 50-135mm SDM lens, the focus speed with the screw drive on the MZ7 is very responsive, however, as many users will testify, it gets a bit pedestrian on the digital body. Now my thought is this, the digital body and the lens are both capable of either electronic or screw drive focusing but when attached to each other, we have only one option. Why on earth is it not possible to enable the user to choose which option to use, surely this could be done by disabling the electronic option via the menu set-up with an update.

I have recently bought the K5II and am delighted with it, I have been experimenting with macro and decided to use one of my older manual lenses, the Pentax 55mm f1.8 which I have coupled with a Teleplus 2x with macro converter (which cost me £50 from e-bay), This is also totally manual and is giving excellent results, I use some fill in flash as well, the only slight downside is that I need to take two or three test shots to start with but as an inexpensive set up I am please as punch.

I have found that using my K7 on a tripod can throw up a level problem if the shake reduction isn't switched off. Switching it off cured the problem.
