DNG file conversion

I don't have Silkypix, but is it not a case of opening the DNG then " Save As " ?
The software would be the better option than the in camera facility your currently using.

Do you actually mean 'Silkypix', or is it Pentax Digital Camera Utility ? If its Silkypix, from memory they call the 'save as' function 'Develop' .... should be a button for that or check in the file menu. PDCU has a traditional 'Save As' command in the file menu.

McGregNi, Thanks for the reply, yes it's actually 'camera utility 4', unfortunately in me trying to open up a Raw file, it's mow refusing to do anything and i'm getting a message telling me that it's no longer working and trying to report the problem to Microsoft. When I originally tried opening the Raw file, I got the message telling me that there was no info on the file, so I resorted to using the in-camera function, which at least works.

Just shut down the programme and open it again. Don't have anything else running on your computer, as PDCU is a bit of a resource hog! Give it plenty of time to open and fire up. I suggest you create a new folder to put in JUST the few RAW files you are currently planning to work on ..... PDCU does not take kindly to loading thumbnails from a folder with hundreds of images in.
Then you go to the 'Option's (Preferences or Settings really) .....' Tools - Options' . This opens a window with some tabs - click on the second tab 'File Management' and the first bit there is a browse button to set the 'Home Folder' . This is the folder that PDCU will load up every time and display the small thumbnails along the bottom. Set you new RAW folder (with less than 30 images in ideally). This should help efficient starting of the programme.
The first time you will have to manually select your folder on the folder tree navigator along the left side. Your images should open up as thumbnails along the bottom. Click once to select your chosen first image. Give it a few seconds and the image will appear enlarged and fill the middle space. Make sure the 'Laboratory' button is clicked at the top as this opens all the editing control panels.
That should get you going ..... read the guide on the page I linked to . I designed it to describe an efficient workflow method . Good luck, and let us know how you get on! PDCU is capable of beautiful results, but it does take a little patience ....
