SDM autofocus

Hi everybody, I have a K5II and a MZ7 to which I attach my DA 50-135mm SDM lens, the focus speed with the screw drive on the MZ7 is very responsive, however, as many users will testify, it gets a bit pedestrian on the digital body. Now my thought is this, the digital body and the lens are both capable of either electronic or screw drive focusing but when attached to each other, we have only one option. Why on earth is it not possible to enable the user to choose which option to use, surely this could be done by disabling the electronic option via the menu set-up with an update.

Ask Pentax This feature has been mentioned numerous times once the SDM failures started to show their face.

It is possible to convert your lens to screw-drive only; there are some threads in the dslr lens section on pentaxforums if that's the way you want to go.

Or buy a K100D or older that does not support SDM; a K10D with firmware 1.30 or earlier will also work.
