No, Martin ! You couldnt do it
Never mind
I just finished my crop- picking up even less of this pic.

Techno,
It has been interesting to follw your struggle and will of learning ! You are great !

my opinion
You have to choose, what the pic is about. Sky or the nice green cathedral roof + mountains. Here you cant get both. The block houses make up an interesting row while the mountains being as background.

About the sky : It is quite dull here. Gradient will give some nicer effect here. I have not done this. I leave this for masters. Wasnt it Prieni, who explaned and did it somewhere in the PF ?

Bananafish - I do not know - have not seen any
Salinger knows

I have a habit of saying "a perfect day for bananafish" if there is a scenery so calm, pure, nice, and far from (=contrast to) our damned busy world.

I know, Andrew
But macro lenses can be used for sth else but macro too
I have used Sigma 70-300 macro a lot (1:2) and like it.

techno,
The blue is a traffic-sign
+ crop + rotate

Does it really not annoy anybody, that the flakes are not pin sharp ?

I have lot of pics, where "too little is going on". But I still like these. Not love, but like. And I like your first shot too ! I like the calm colors, not the typical orange sunset.
The best day for Bananafish !

The second one has got more deep colors for sunset. So it is well balanced with more bold rocks. It is Ok for me

I like the blue surface and the shapes. I was totally surprised that I got such a pic with the kit lens ....but I wish I had a macro one.

Do not be afraid bringing out the minuses of the pic !
cant be, that there isnt any
It is just my way to control my own thoughts....

Hyram,
glad to hear, that your opinion has changed even more positive
I have got my prize in the form of nice comments , thanks!

As to entering earlier: I wish I could ! Usually I try to not leave it on the last moment. As I know the feeling about late entries while being the judge. Once more, sry !
I had already given up for this contest. Then I was called, that my little package has arrived by mail ... I even let the children to wait for food - my first thing was to shoot the pic when I arrived from work.

If you can't face people what about setting up one of those bird hide things in the street, one disguised as a postbox or telecommunications junction box or something. You could take photos through a slit. Our bird photography experts can give you advice on how to keep still and quiet so you don't frighten the subject away.

Now I know your secret technique.....I have always wondered, HOW you get so excellent photos about people

Thanks for color award, I am really glad about that !
I am very thirsty for colors at this time of season, that may be the reason I liked i-Berg's Violin , Dr.Mhuni's Mint and also Mike's boots for most. Although I have no idea, what the mint with the hole is, and I do not know the boots
Bulb is wll done, no doubt! Also the Pen. Its just my thirst for colors
Nice competition it was And good judging!
