I think the opening post should have been deleted at once Where is a mod when needed? If ever a thread should be closed it is this one.
it was evil enough to show the aim of the writer.

Why people want to say always that they are RIGHT.Everybody else is wrong. If someone else comes back to prove he is right, then he is bad.
but when I come back it is just matter of justice and I am right

[quote:3496ace15f="Aiki] PM-s cant be a reason f or banning! These are between two persons. PM-s do not harm forum.[/quote]Edit: PM-s do not touch forum as a whole. That means it is unfair to ban because of pM.
Or maybe I could dig out some offensive PM(-s) sent to me as well - and mod-s will kindly ban the sender(s)? Of course, I hope you will not mind, if I do not reveal what the msg(s) was (were) about. Even not to the mod. Being confidential you know
Ahh... it is really childish fight ...all this ....
from both sides.
Time to go on....just with some losses.

Ralf - you didn't see the PMs though did you? You don't know what went on between Tim and the mods. No one apart from them really knows what happened, and nor will we due to PMs being just that private messages.
I have no doubt that it is something that happened behind the scenes which resulted in the 7 day ban, not the initial thread.

No they don't John. They get remembered for a long long time. I know this from running my own forum that every action you make as a moderator all adds or substracts to your reputation brownie pointsThings get forgotten very quickly, so as far as I'm concerned it's back to business as usual.
And next amok-s follow so easily because old "cases" are not forgotten.
And old (banned or just left) members are not forgotten either.
If the members are expected to act like grown-ups, then there is no need to take the role of teacher while communicating with them. It will just end up with fight.
I can see it even on my children (10 & 7 y) - if I start to teach them like kids, they act like that.
PUF really has lost lot of its positive side after several bannings and leavings. And it has lost several really valuable members.
I have tried to keep myself out of different stormy pages. Couldnt do it this time.
Sry for adding to this ....

Do you really think we ban people if there's no reason for it? Would not that be rather pointless and also rather difficult to explain to the rest of the team? Of course we don't.
Banning is quite severe punishment. It would be nice to tell clearly and to everybody, WHY was it done. It is just polite, not pointless !!!Do you really think we ban people if there's no reason for it? Would not that be rather pointless and also rather difficult to explain to the rest of the team? Of course we don't.
Difficult - yes, but only if you start banning too often.

It is hard to tell anything, because we do not know anything. And you do know that really because everyone who wants to has been able to say what they wanted about this even when they really don't know much about it at all.
And several people have asked for explanation.
It would take much less energy than keeping all this mess and storm.

"OK, that's fine, no problem" is not a discussion. It is an usual response if someone obeys.
I think it is not the first time when someone does not want to obey.
Banning seems to be the quickest and most effective way to avoid further discussion. Especially if you think a storm to be rising from it.
It can be understood in a way. Like a work of a police....
It is hard to keep the balance
Still, if to do it too often (deleting posts, banning) it irritates people more and more. It does not make the forum more friendly or peaceful place.
I wish PUF to be a nice and peaceful place with lot of help and learning, also friendly chat.
Although I have not been much here lately, I have found several great persons from here, with whom I keep the contact. Tim is one of them. And pity - not the only one who has been banned or left.
Yes, JR, I do not know what was there about the PM-s. But these are PM-s. So the private content of those (between two persons) should not cause banning.
PM-s do not harm PUF as a whole. It is personally between you and Tim then ?
