Great, well done...this type of 'How did I do that?' could become a regular feature..fun and educational at the same time.

Like Algernon said...I noticed that his coat appeared 'stiff' and had a line that appears to join a line from the bollard...so is he perfectly still...holding a pose in effect, the 'flapping' coat leading you to believe that he is moving forward, whilst the other old timers are actually walking forward. The shutter speed must have had to be very slow..say half a second?

I noticed the raincoat thing before I read Algernons comment...honest.

You used a video type head on a tripod and panned to follow the guy in focus whilst setting a slow speed of about 1/8th second-1/15th second?

Very nicely done regardless.

Another cracking selection Mike. Particularly like the Gripen shots...love that paint job.

Some excellent shots Mike and great to see some of the 'old timers' still flying.

Really excellent shots Gary and a great advert for Pentax equipment...you should be able to blagg yourself some heavily discounted gear from Pentax for your 'marketing support' by proving that you don't need a Canikon to be successful professionally in what must be a very demanding and competitive market.

Yeah I noticed that about a week or so ago when i was doing the comparison myself. It appears to be a common tactic used by manufacturers bringing out models with only small incremental changes. Its a shame that Pentax didn't use the opportunity to be bolder with the K50. Being a small , niche player they have to stand out and get real
'bang for buck' out of every new model or they risk being squeezed from their niche with nowhere left to go. The moment that Canikon extend weather proofing down their product line to their £500 models will be a game changer for Pentax.

Vic,

something similar happened to me on the gallery when I posted the odd picture that appeared wrong orientation when uploaded.

The mistake i made was to assume that because I had rotated the image on my monitor to view it properly (for example I had rotated an image taken in portrait that initially appeared landscape on my monitor) that this would then appear right way up when uploaded...wrong. I had to rotate the image to the 'correct' orientation when viewed on my monitor and then save this image as a new one, make a note of the new ID
as given to it by my camera/software package and then make sure it was this version which was uploaded to PU. It might be that's what you will have to do.

Haven't a clue about inserting space between pictures as i've only ever uploaded one picture at a time to the gallery, never used the forum for this.

Particularly like nos 4 and 5 by the way, well done.

I'll be looking at the same question later this year although by Nov/Dec i suspect all the K30s will be gone meaning my decision will be made for me. When the K50 was announced I thought i'd definitely go with that, particularly as they apparently do it in olive to replace my olive Kx. Ironically, in view of your video requirement the video on the K50 is supposed to be improved over that of the K30 but for me this is not an issue as I have never even tried video on my Kx after 2.5 years!

However...on reflection the differences are mainly cosmetic. The body on the K50 is definitely more attractive due to the curved lines but tbh the only ugly part of the k30 is the hooded flash which I can put up with...and i never use the flash anyway. Also the kit 18-55WR lens on the K30 is the better quality one with metal mount rather than new one on K50 which has a plastic mount...so i'd say definitely a K30 for me at this moment in time.

Depending on how urgent your requirememnt is my gut feeling is that there will be a small nett reduction in the K30 price in the near future...probably once the money off promotion comes to an end because at the moment it is being outshone by the K5 in value for money terms.

Like many other posters above i almost always only buy at the stage when they are
clearing out the last few to make way for the new model...can't beat a genuine bargain end of line.
