It might be easier if you say what you mean as posting non-sequiters and non sentences isn't getting anything across. Or I might just be a bit too daft to understand.

Lol

WooHoo, at long last, the General Chat forum . . . has gone.

Thanks for listening David Burleson.

Yes. This thread has moved to the "General Photographic Chat" forum, or the old "General Chat" forum has been renamed.

Sorry, this is now the General Photographic Chat forum and therefore your post is off topic. Prepare to have it deleted

Have you anything statistical that you can quote John, as opposed to your own anecdotal evidence

For example:
Growth in members online daily
Growth in average daily posts per member. And a comparison with other fora
Growth in visitors to the site
etc, etc
Daily Unique Visitors: 1,030
Monthly Unique Visitors: 31,350
Yearly Unique Visitors: 375,950

Apparently my own unadvertised private site achieves

Daily Unique Visitors: 324
Monthly Unique Visitors: 9,862
Yearly Unique Visitors: 118,260

which is roughly a third of PU. I find that amazing.

Smeggie's gets:

Daily Unique Visitors: 647
Monthly Unique Visitors: 19,693
Yearly Unique Visitors: 236,155

which is roughly two-thirds that of PU.

Our transatlantic Pentax compatriots achieve:

Daily Unique Visitors: 123,989
Monthly Unique Visitors: 3,773,835
Yearly Unique Visitors: 45,255,985

You can do your own maths!

Why John believes such matters are confidential is strange given they can be easily found with a web search.

Quality not quantity ... but even so, these figures are themselves a pretty bald rebuttal of the notion that all is rosy in the garden. We could argue about causes, but it is surely massively complacent to believe that things cannot be improved. Sadly, satisfaction with the way things are is conspicuous in some quarters, and I have no great expectation that that will alter.

It might help if users aren't treated as young children. Yes, there'll always a need for some moderation, but there are limits in both directions.
