The thread wasn't tiresome it was a good one. Hoping it reverts. Don't need to be told several times by several people (getting the tiresome bit now?) what I can/cannot choose to doAs has been said several times by several of us - if you find this thread "Tiresome" you can choose not to read it.
Anyway there's been some good photos posted since David started this thread, and there's been more honesty in the critique.
So good on David I say

Thanks for that Alan, my aim with the thread was to boost interest and discussion, to encourage participation and critique. I wasn't intending to start a row about moderation and in fact I don't think this thread has done that, but it has got caught up in a firestorm that was created in other threads.
I think most of us are old enough / sensible enough to know our own minds and to make our own judgments about what we can / can't do and what we should / should not get involved in. Personally speaking, I've avoided getting embroiled in the controversy about moderation and non-photography discussions, I'm primarily interested in this Forum for the photographic element and the excellent advice that is given and received.
As stated before though, I'm glad I started the thread because I think it has sparked some life back into the Forum which had been sadly lacking for some time.
Regards
David

Perhaps someone should start "Another tiresome thread" which we could use for general moaning about the forum? Blythman wrote:

Why should it be inevitable that we follow the tiresome lead, talking about another forum.Do the tiresome chat over thereInevitable with how it's been here and how feelings run... you may as well ask grass not to grow.

There are sometimes snide comments made in threads that lead to retaliation and give rise to bad feeling. It puts people of posting and sometimes threads being pulled/locked - maybe that is the intention. Surely such comments, if felt necessary, could be made in a manner that isn't designed to deliberately antagonise/flame the person who made it. There maybe something useful for the OP in the comment you disagree with even if you don't think it yourself so let the OP decide rather than believe the thread is your own.
Often seemingly extraneous comments follow on from someone misreading or not noticing an earlier point, so show some respect and word your reply in a manner that suggests you are trying to help rather than antagonise otherwise you may end up being the only ones left here posting, then you would wonder what has happened.

Does that include patronising posts that are lecturing the rest of the forum on how to post? There are sometimes snide comments made in threads that lead to retaliation and give rise to bad feeling. I agree with you completely, David.I think most of us are old enough / sensible enough to know our own minds and to make our own judgments about what we can / can't do and what we should / should not get involved in. Unfortunately a lot of what is posted on this forum is far too technical for me as I have trouble understanding all the terminology (yes, I know, use a dictionary ...). So there's not much I feel I can contribute to and I sometimes feel guilty if I ask for help yet have nothing to give in return.
My interest in photography continues to increase, as do the frustrations of not always feeling I'm progressing! Whilst it's nice to come on here and see what's going on, I avoid discussions on how this forum is run. Anyone who is or has been a mod/admin will know that it can be a thankless task.

Inevitable with how it's been here and how feelings run... you may as well ask grass not to grow.
As has been said several times by several of us - if you find this thread "Tiresome" you can choose not to read it.
