Lets bring some new life to this thread.
It's been a very long time I've watched a good film, does someone have a good suggestion besides the main stream films?
It can even be a film for children as long as the story is good

Hi Stefan - we watched UP recently - it really was very very heartwarming and delightfully done.
We christened the Blue Ray Player with Dances with Wolves and Kelly`s Heroes - both great fun.
Day of the Jackal ( original ) still grips - Mrs Doubvtfire is still funny and Centennial Man still a well crafted sci-fi.
Tonight we are watching St.Trinians 2 - well we can`t all be perfect !!

Solaris - Andrei Tarkovsky (the original Russian, not the dreaful American remake)
Funny Games - Michael Haneke (the original Austrian, not the dreaful American remake)
In Bruges (one of the best films for years)

YES! Moon was superb.
Recent films I thought were fantastic are The Girl Who/With Trilogy. Excellent stuff, and while we are on the subject of Swedish films, Let The Right One In is also superb.
I also like the French new wave scene - Doberman is a classic, as too is Mesrine/Public Enemy No 1.

Tony I've already seen all of them besides Day of the Jackal & St.Trinians 2, they are indeed good films. Will look up the two I missed

Indeed the American remake of Solaris was quite bad didn't knew there was another version though

Toy Story 3 was rather good too. I was worried they might be spinning the franchise out too far but it was just as excellent as the previous two - kudos to Pixar!

Stefan, don't read about Moon. Wait till afterwards if you can. It has its flaws but overall a very good watch.
Swedish movies?
As Bob says, "Let The Right One In" , superb and dark.
And "My life as a dog" as mentioned by a few I think.
They are the only two I know of.

When I say about Swedish movies "the only two I know of", they are the only two I have wittingly seen. I'm sure the Swedish film industry is healthy and there are loads more that I have not yet seen.
The UK is pretty besotted with Swedish TV Wallander at the moment. 90min episodes and quite a few of them.
