Still I got a weird feeling with Samsung cameras, it surely just the brand name and it's the same with Sony and even Canon a bit.
Camera's are quite specialised equipment so I rather see a brand name on it that only makes camera.
Like I said it's most likely just a feeling, I'm not suggesting that the are of less quality. Just to make that clear
With the big shops that shift boxes you're really just a number that bought a camera.

Yes warranty is warranty but the smaller shops in general are more personal and are often willing to go the extra mile to have a happy customer.warranty is warranty, simple as that, if i buy a camera from a specialist camera shop do you think they will just swap it over for a new one the minute there is a fault?, Or exercise there right under the sales of goods act and send it to the manufactuer for repair or replacement?

Like Panasonic? Lumix has a great reputation. Wife has a D-LUX3, bought my Mum a FZ28. Both excellent. Trouble is Panasonic also make decent bread makers.so I rather see a brand name on it that only makes camera.
GX10 and GX20 I had both were fine. The Samsung s830 compact (£100) produced some great images and had PASM. There are always bad examples from the product runs, hence why I won't be spending out on a 16-50mm lens.
K-7 I have seems fine.
Lurking is shirking.!

With point and shoot the matter lies a bit different, it's more about electronics their than with DSLR cameras and yes I've the same feeling with Panasonic evil camera however their point and shoot do attract me.

I got the email from flikr, George clearly has far to much time on his hands and clearly has issues and obviously needs to belittle others to make himself look bettter/bigger than whats in his small narrow mind.

You know how you have earned the profound respect in which I hold you, Organicimagery, so stop being disingenuous.
If you wish to stick around, that is up to you. But please refrain from asking the moderators to remove my posts, and then sending me private messages pretending you haven't.
As you know, we have had two private message discussions. The first, which seemed interminable, was initiated by you, and left an unpleasant taste in the mouth. The second was initiated by me, and didn't.
I do hope you will be happy with your new camera.

Carl, please stop shouting. QUESTION TO MODS WHY IS GEORGES BEHAVIOUR ALLOWED TO GO ON IN THIS FOURM?
I don't know what's gone on between you and George and anybody else, but it's clear something has.
Whatever it is, all parties please keep it out of the forum.
Best regards, John

I really do enjoy the forum, well most of it anyway, there really are a great bunch of people here but the select few , they just ruin it for everybody

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Crikey Carl, look at the major drama your post has caused! People arguing about others buying choices....
Anyway, good luck in your future photographic endeavours. As long as you're taking pictures, who cares what you're using? Just don't try to tell me your Canon is better than my Pentax. OK?
Regards

That said, this isn't the first time I've read about you being involved in such a problem. Sooner or later we may come to the conclusion that there is one constant variable in all these cases.
You.

The lessons here are:
1 Don't buy Samsung cameras because they are marketed and sold by people who deal in washing machines and vacuum cleaners.
2 Do buy cameras from specialist camera shops with a reputation to maintain, and who know about the product.
It seems that you have again bought from some faceless box-shifter. One might have thought that once bitten, twice shy, but apparently some lessons need to be repeated several times before they sink in.
With all the hassle you have had, surely a call to SRS would have been a wise move. It would have resulted in you getting a second-user K20D at a good price with a guarantee, together with peace of mind. But no, you had to go for the cheapest possible option again.
To a large extent, in life you make your own luck.
G
With regards to the camera , if i went for the cheapest option i would of bought a second hand k20d, And i wanted a new camera so i bought a new camera, what difernce does it make to where i purchased it from, its from a reputable seller and amazon is a certerfide canon reseler.
Srs did not have any new pentax k20d, as i did call them, and they said highly unlikely they will get any mor new bodys in.
As with regards to samsung they are one of the largest electronics manufactures / distributers in the world, i own plenty of samsung branded products as well as sell them in my computer shop and have no problem with them. Its just very unfortunate that the camera has broken down, and it cant be replaced.
warranty is warranty, simple as that, if i buy a camera from a specialist camera shop do you think they will just swap it over for a new one the minute there is a fault?, Or exercise there right under the sales of goods act and send it to the manufactuer for repair or replacement?
