For Herons there is almost always one fishing under Richmond bridge until around 7:30am at weekends. Otherwise closer to Teddington Bushy Park is the place to go.

Shaky, thank you for the Bushy Park suggestion.
I can in fact usually see three herons from my current mooring, but I particularly want to capture some herons on the nest, and for that, the river side of the ait at Brentford is excellent.
They use nests at this time of year, even if they are not breeding.

Herons are easy in that part of London.
Trying to get a good shot of one of the parrots is much harder in my view:

Flying, then watching the rugby on Sky+ (hoping that no one tells me the score, although I think the result should be pretty obvious - France don't look like they have a chance).

A 'dad's taxi' weekend - ferrying two teenagers to clubs, mate's houses etc etc, all at different times - but I'll stick the camera bag and tripod in the boot for the bits in between
